Battery Life

HEy all,
I'm thinking of trading in my Storm for this phone but the one thing i hear is how quickly the battery dies.

Omnia users can you please let me know how much use do you get before its dead. And how much of the time spent is using the wifi???

thanks,

Main button senses scrolling! AWESOME

Maybe I should have already know this, But I didn't! 😳

The button in the middle between the phone senses a scrolling feature. If you rub the button lightly you can use it as arrow keys!

One of my biggest frustrations of not being able to maneuver through the screen has been solved.

Hope some other people find this useful.

camera and battery life suck!!

i read these reviews and people talk about pros and mention the 5.0MP CAMERA, have any of you people used the camera feature???? if not take a pic and sent it to your home computer and see how blurry the pics are, i have a VGA that takes better pics!! and no need to say anything about the battery life, terrible!! but on a positive note everything else about the phone is fantastic!!!

Ringtones??

Is there anyway to put different ringtones (mp3, wav, etc) on the phone and then change the default ringer to one of the tones? I can't seem to find instructions anywhere on how to do this.

ACTUAL FIX FOR WIFI ISSUE!!

After speaking with a very nice and smart technical support person with Verizon, it's obviously been confirmed that the Omnia has a problem with the WiFi either not being able to turn on or connection problems. Samsung knows about this issue and is working on a fix as we speak.

If you DONT download and install VZAppZone then you shouldnt have a problem with the WiFi. Something on the inside of the device makes it so when that is downloaded and installed it cripples the WiFi feature. So people stop knocking the Omnia's flaws and just wait patiently for the update.

Voice Mail, TXT and Email Issues

I am looking for some help. I am outlining my problems below. My question is do I need a new phone or is this just Windows?

Voice mail - Sometimes my phone will not show I have any voicemails. I found that I can go several days before Visual Voicemail tells me or when I call my account. Sometimes on reboot my phone will alert me, but it is usually way later then the actual call took place. 👿

Text Messaging - Same as voicemail on the receiving part. Also, I can't seem to turn off the callback number unless I do every single text message. 👿 Anyone know whats up?

Email alerts I have set my notifications to only make a noise when I receive emails. Unfortunately, I still get the annoying message saying ...

speculation - will Omnia support winmobile 7?

I'm tempted by this phone but I usually keep a phone a long time (coming up on 4 years on the original Q).

Winmobile 7 is supposed to support touchscreens, but the problem I know is with Verizon.

Anyone care to guess on the likelihood of an upgrade path with this one?

Ending Apps and powersave

I've noticed that many of my applications stay open after I "x" out of them. Anyone know how to close them down so they don't waste the battery. Currently I shut them down by going in to the task manager but I'm sure there is an easier way.

Also, any tips to save the battery life? I shut off the wifi and bluetooth but still only get a half a day out of the battery. Any tips?

Thanks.

This is going to sound stupid, but what is a "Learning Curve"?

In some messages about this phone (as well as others), they talk about the learning curve and I probably already know what it is. But I just want to make sure. Thanks for the help!

MicroSD Card

Is anyone using the MicroSDHC card with their Omnia i910?

The manual recommends MicroSD card. And I am NOT sure of the difference between MicroSD and MicroSDHC. I am not sure if the HC works with the Omnia i910.
Newegg has the 8GB MicroSDHC a lot cheaper than the MicroSD that was recommended and is available at Vzw.

Also, will the Omnia i910 properly work with the 16GB MicroSDHC card? Anyone using either 8GB or 16GB HC cards?

Ringtone problems

Has anyone had trouble with their ringtones? I was going through them just to hear what was loaded in the phone and the loud ones sounded very loud. Now I can barely hear them at all when going through them, however, when the phone rings it's very loud. That's the only thing that's loud. It's probably a software issue but wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Omnia wifi is out.

After getting escalated to Samsung CS from Verizon and them tell me they are aware of the problem I am beginning to think I was too early getting this. I cannot get on my home wireless today even though I did yesterday. Today I installed VZ navigator and after that my wifi button in wireless manager does nothing, it stays in the on color of blue not the grayed color of off but will not find the network. I cannot even turn the button off to try to reset it. It's locked up. Tried the soft reset option but still the button is stuck on blue and no wireless.
The phone works so it dials #777 to get the internet but not wifi. I spent a lot of time with this and nothing to show for it, and I'm not will ing to do a hard reset yet. Frustrating!

Streaming Bluetooth Music

I use the Omnia to stream bluetooth music to my car audio. The problem I have is when I press play/pause on my bluetooth device (Motorola T505) the Omnia display turns on and doesn't turn off after the timeout that is set in the settings. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Phone backlight dimming and Tilt function deactivating

Whenever I lock my phone and do several other things to my phone the screen will automatically dim and when i take it out of lock mode it will remain dimmed instead of brighting back up. also the screen tilt or motion sensor function will stop working all of a sudden and if i turn my phone into portrait style from the previous style or vice versa, it will not swap over. this bugs the crap out of me and i want to know if anyone else has experienced this problem on their omnia. if so, did any of ya'll remedy it and how?

Text message time stamp

My text message time stamps are off. The ones I send the time is correct but when someone sends me one, the time is off by several hours. Has anyone else been having this problem? Any ideas on a fix?

I saw on some other forum about changing the time zone to GMT-1 Azores and then manually setting the clock to my time (Pacific). Well that didnt work 😳
