GMail for Omnia

I see that the Omnia doesn't come with the Java Virtual Machine which means I can't install GMail on this. Does anyone have a way to correct this besides using the IMAP option? Maybe a way to install Java VM on this or something else.

Samsung Port / headphone Jack

How secure is the Samnsung port's connection to the headphone adapter? Has anyone had a problem with it breaking?(LG port broke on my last phone just from charging)
I guess the other option would be bluetooth headphones but I'm not sure how good they sound. Having to charge them would be annoying.

Bluetooth fold up Keyboard suggestions...

I tried the Freedom Universal Keyboard2 yesterday and could not get it to work. It may not work with WM 6.1.

Any suggestions on a bluetooth fold up keyboard that will work with the omnia?

Thanks.

3G speed

WiFi was much faster and more reliable in downloading a podcast than the native data speed for the phone.

When using native data connect, how can I verify that I am getting 3G speed? WHen I do anything that requires data access I get a bullet that says something like 'connecting to broadband access via telephone, dialing #777. There is also another setting on the phone that says Broadband Access (dialup). It seems contradictory to me that broadband can be a funtion of dialup? How does broadband happen on this phone?

Thx,
Joey

sending a message to phonescoop on the Omnia

I had time to kill this morning so I tried to post a message here using the Omnia. I could not do it. The querty keyboard is just terrible for typing, and I used every keyboard available. The best thing turned out to be the hand writing recognition feature. I was able to compose a note with that, but then, I could not post it because the Submit button did not do anything when I pushed it. Moving around on the screen and trying to type is really difficult on this phone.

Using the Omnia Browser

Some of the web pages are impossible to read, the text is very small. Sometimes, there is a field on such a page that I need to fill in order to log into the page. How do I zoom into these spaces? How can I make the querty open on these fields?

thx,
Joey

Samsung

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - Its a joke
Have you tried their website? They don't even list an SCH number that matches anything on my phone.

From a recent experience with TomTom, I stongly suggest that you save your original purchase receipt forever, even after you have registered.

Traded in Storm for Omnia

I just traded in my Storm for an Omnia. I couldnt deal with the Storm anymore. The Omnia has so much more going for it including wifi ontop of Win mobile that allows me to make my Omnia an access point for my laptop without paying for the extra data plan tethering. The only downside to the Omnia is a less favorable screen. Otherwise performance and reliability are top notch. Best WInMobile phone ever!!!

PS, I got the Omnia for $199 and was also given a $70 rebate form. Not sure why but I guess I will mail it in and the end cost will be $129. I thought it was supposed to be $199 after the 70 rebate?? Oh well.

Better than iPhone or Storm

This new Omnia i910 device actually surpasses both the iPhone and The Storm. Just do a side-by-side comparison of each and you will see the features. It's a Windows Mobile OS so it's more advanced. Also, you don;t have to pay the extra monthly Blackberry fee when syncing your phone via MS Exchange.

The iPhone is a let down. It has no actual talking GPS so it's basically useless when driving. It's no netter than Google Maps. The iPhone also doesn't have a cut n' paste feature. That's an important feature in a business. It also have no external memory. The iPhone is pretty but it lacks standard features that have been available to the public for years now.

I tried out the storm and this new "click" keyboard they have is a bit demandin...

Omnia Opera will not do Phonescoop

I can not read Phonesccop using Omnia Opera. I can get to the forum, but it will not go any deeper. I can not read indiviual messages. I can click on them but nothing happens...but blue line runs across the bottom like it bringing up a page, but nothing.

I tried with IE and it workd just fine. Plue, IE has the arrow on the side for moving up and down the screen..I may like IE better.

Lag time for Dialing and Text messaging

for anyone who has used the i760 and the 6800 WM-based phones, you know that when you a dialing out, it takes forever for the numbers to appear on the screen.

how does the omnia fare wit that? is it as quick as an iphone or does it still lag and take forever??

also,

is there anyone that switched from a full-slide keyboard to the omnia and its touchscreen? i text a lot and want something that works well.. that is the one great thing about my 6800, texting is the quickest/easiest/best on the slide out.. tell me what u think please

and lastly,

omnia or touch pro.. which do you suggest (take the $$ issue out of it; imagine they were priced the same)

Omnia versus Dare versus Storm

Hi, stumbled across site tonight, glad for the information. Shopping between the Omni, Dare and Storm. Checked out my brother's Storm and to me it was twice the work to use it. Can't decide between the Dare and Omni...any advice? Have to admit, I really don't use web or email....yet....Appreciate any input..

Streaming radio

I had a question. Does the FM radio on the Omnia only apply to radio stations in your listening area? Would streaming radio over the Internet be possible with this phone? I was thinking along the lines of the iPhone/iPod Touch application "iHeartRadio" [http://www.iheartmusic.com/cc-common/iphone/ ] or Pandora or something.

Is that possible? Can there be third party radio applications?

Threaded text messaging?

I think threaded text messaging is what i want. I have played with the iPhone and Samsung Instinct. I like Verizon but I haven't found a VZ phone that displays the whole text message conversation between me and the other person. does this phone have that option?

Using the phone book

Maybe someone can offer a tip on using the phone book. When you first hit phone, and close the keypad, the list of names in your phone book is very small, it is hard to scroll them.

If I want to select someone's cell phone number from their entry, and the one that is there is the home phone, if I try to select the cell phone, it calls the number immediately. This caused a difficulty when all I wanted to do was to select it so I could assign it a speed dial. Maybe I should turn off the phone before accessing the phonebook?
