speculation - will Omnia support winmobile 7?

I'm tempted by this phone but I usually keep a phone a long time (coming up on 4 years on the original Q).

Winmobile 7 is supposed to support touchscreens, but the problem I know is with Verizon.

Anyone care to guess on the likelihood of an upgrade path with this one?

I thought about this too. My guess is that 9 1/2 months after it is available, Verizon will begin to consider the update. By then, I can probably get new phone

Yeah, true that.

I was going to hangon with the Q until Motorola shows their hand on an Android phone, but maybe the Omnia will be a good bridge to that day.

It doesnt really matter if it supports Win Mob 7 or not. Mobile 7 wont be out til fall/winter next year or Spring 2010 if delayed. By that time I will want another upgrade to a newer better device. So buy the Omnia now, and in a year or so, upgrade.

Personally, I would not upgrade my Omnia to a different OS if it was avail. I had issues upgrading my i760 to 6.1. Unlike PCs, Winmobile is tightly customized to each device by vendor prior to relase in order to work right (drivers, coduits, etc). So the current Omnia should live and die with WinMob6.1. If a new Omnia comes out with Win7, then I will get rid of this one and buy that one. No upgrade for me.
