iPhone + T-Mobile in USA (no hacks)?

Apple announced its pending release of iPhone in Germany under T-Mobile.

Since I know you can buy an iPhone in the USA and take it to Europe to use with ATT (and others?), will German iPhones be able to use T-Mobile in the USA?

Anyone *know* if this will be possible? Reasons, people, reasons why it would or would not work?

(If you're just offering speculation don't bother... I've already done that!) 🙂

Thanks,
Awk!

bluetooth and the iphone. ANYONE getting this?

i work for sprint, and as such am required to wear one of the bluetooth headsets offered by sprint. in this case the moto h700. i have also used and older jabra headset, my pioneer d3(for the car) and of course the very nice apple headset. i have noticed, with both phones i have used, that when ANY other headset besides the apple one is used(it still happens with the apple one-its just REALLY rare, with the others its at least once a day), my signal will briefly and randomly drop all the way down to one bar and takes away my edge. and we all know that when it drops to 2 or less bars the phone is useless as a phone. i know the apple one is supposed to be the headset one is supposed to use. but this just isnt realistic. so please let me know i...

iphone contract

Can someone explain this to me? Lets say at this point I do not have service with AT&T/Cingular.

My understanding is you purchase the iphone (8Gig) in the box through at&t or an apple store for $399 (flat rate for new or old customers?).

AT&T doesn't hook it up for you - you bring it home and hook it up to AT&T service yourself through itunes.

At this point you are in a 2 yr contract.

If a new iphone comes out in a year and I really want it, can I get it even though I have another year left on my contract? This goes back to my question at the top.. would the price of the phone be a flat rate for new and old customers, or more expensive?

Thanks in advance for the info

A Few Qs

1- I keep reading that the next iphone will be released in late January .. does anybody here know if this is correct?

2- Also do you feel the next iphone will have GPS and 3G?

I'm on the bridge and don't know if I should jump in and get the iphone now or wait for the next release at this point.

Thanks.

maybe a stupid question...but...

...can the iphone download and play mp3 files(from the phone)? Every windows mobile device can, but, i heard that the iphone is very locked down and I wouldn't be all that surprised if they prevented you from doing that. I want to buy it, but, I might be without a computer on my vacation, and I'd like to keep up with my favorite podcasts....

some advice?

I've heard all the good and the bad about this phone. I'm considering either this or maybe just the sony 580i.
What I really want is a good music player and a good phone in one handy package. I want to plug it into my car's aux input and listen to music pretty effortlessly.
The price of the phone really doesn't bother me, I would probably get the 580 unlocked anyway, so it would cost all but the same.
Now all the extras that the iphone has is obviously making me lean towards it. A few of my friends have it, I've played with it, and I do like it.
Texting is a concern though with it not having any hard buttons. But the 580 has a very small keypad, so I think it would be a problem there too.
I do have one question that I hope someone will ...

:p !!!!!!IPHONE KILLER FOUND!!!!!!!:p

The HTC 6800/ mogul is the best phone ever made!!!!AND BLOWS THE APPLE IPHONE OUT OF THE WATER!!!!!! Smaller and thinner than a Treo 700p and 1/3 of the thickness of the 6700 it is truly a pocket friendly/mobile mini computer. Windows mobile 6 is awesome, EVDO rev is fast, Wify is a great alertinative, and Rev A will be a free update in fall making this device a true winner. This phone is also wi-fi capable. The camera is excellent 2 megapixel with great features and can take clean pictures in pitch dark! Active sync seems to work better on this device and Microsoft direct push makes email flawless. To those who have Yahoo and haven't upgraded to the POP 3 email, it is not a problem becuase it will still go get the email on your device along ...

600 dollars is average for a decent phone

heres a list of phones you could spend around 500-600 dollars for full retail (after extra software and updates) to allow you to watch movies and still not have a touch screen or enough internal memory to have a whole movie!!
not to mention the battery life or the screen quality the iphone provides!!!
Nokia
n80ie $499.99
n75 $399.99
e61 $456.99 (no camera at all!!)
CarryDVD For Symbian $29.99

moto
Krzr $399.99 on the gsm version you can read video off the sd card i dont know about cdma

att
8525 $599.99 +$24.95 for dvd to pocket pc's

sony ericson
w950 $673.95 and you get a touch screen but no movie capabilities

so all these verizon and sprint guys dont realize you get what you pay for!!

and the iphone will be updated...

Insurance on the iPhone

Will they offer it?

It's my understanding (could be wrong) that Cingular does not offer insurance for the PDA/Blackberry/smartphone/iPhone selection.

Approx. $75

I love my VZW coverage, but I'm in love with the iPhone more (have used Apple my whole life). I'm out of agreement and I'm thinking about trying out the iPhone. If I try it, and do not like the network coverage, it will still cost me $75. $35 to activate and $40 for restock fee. iPhone restrictions only let me try for 14 days. I travel a lot and can really test it out. What should I do? Is it worth the $75 risk? I am using a Treo 650 and it syncs great with my Mac. I'm in SE Columbus, Ohio.

iPHONE BATTERY ISSUES

So I have heard from a few buddies of mine at AT&T and even a At&T market Rep that the new Iphone has an internel battery that is programmed to last exactly 200 charges. Not one more or one less but at exactly the 200th charge your battery is turned off and the only way to have it reprogrammed is to send it in to Apple and within a 3 day turn around time and 90.00 your battery will work for exacly 200 more charges.
So if you sign a 2 yr agreement you can only charge your phone once every 3.65 days. If you are like everyone else and charge it once a day your two year agreement will cost an extra 328.50 plus shipping just for battery issues. This is a great phone but i think I will wait until 6 months from now when Apple is over whelmed will...
