I was wondering if anyone uses their IPhone's IPod while driving in their car. What works? I have a cassette adapter but the plug wont fit in the jack. Does the ITrip work? any other suggestions?

Thanks.

THEY haven't released anything YET as a "cassette adaptor". (Note: the only reason it won't work is because the jack is receeded into the phone. Shave some plastic off of your adaptor and it might work.)

Apple included in an update the ability to use Griffin products that utilize the apple 30 pin connector, so those DO work. I recommend the one that looks like it fits an older "nano". I've been using that and it's a beauty.

You can use an FM Transmitter, because there is not a way to shield the connection you will constantly get interference, since the phone is transmitting signal all the time. IF uyou want to use an FM transmitter you need to put the phone in airplane mode(you will not be able to make or recieve calls) in order to use the transmitter.

and if you're driving, it's better to NOT make a receive calls on the device.

shave your tape adapter. It'll work.

Go to Best Buy or Circuit City and get something to directly connect it(depends on the deck that you have in your car). I sold MP3 players and cell phones at Best Buy for years and heard 100's of complaints about FM transmitters. I have personally had 2 and they both suckes. You can never beat direct connect, plus many will charge your iPod and some will even show song titles on your car stereo.

I worked at Best Buy for two years as well, and stumbled across the best FM transmitter. It's by Griffin:

I've used it with my video and nano, and it's really great. You just have to have the patience to find a channel that's really really not being used.

but I love my cassette deck adaptor the best.

I can use my itrip with the iPhone but it won't charge like an iPod would. Also the volume output isn't as high as an iPod's.

I was using a cassette adapter with a Belkin iphone plug but then I stopped. Problem for me is that the "itouch" interface for the ipod player isn't really car friendly. It takes too many touches and looking at the screen to do things like FF or changing the volume. So now I'm back to using my 3G ipod for all my driving pleasure. I still really enjoy my iphone otherwise though.

Dude - just buy the Belkin or Griffin headphone jack adapter - thats what I use and it works fine with my mp3 input jack on my car. It also lets me answer calls on the iPhone and then hear the call through my car stereo speakers and just talk with the phone in my lap or cupholder. The adapters are like $10 - 20 from Apple or Radioshack etc.

I've used AUX plugs in the headphone jack and direct input into the stereo using the iPhone's dock connector. I don't have a cassette player in my daily driver anymore so I can't comment on those but I would imagine the headphone jack with the appropriate plug would work fine.

You can use the RoadTrip it both charges and transmits in FM but I got fed up with the transmission, so I just bought a aux input chord and got a radio that has an aux input. Works great, and I bought a charger seperatly
