maybe a stupid question...but...
...can the iphone download and play mp3 files(from the phone)? Every windows mobile device can, but, i heard that the iphone is very locked down and I wouldn't be all that surprised if they prevented you from doing that. I want to buy it, but, I might be without a computer on my vacation, and I'd like to keep up with my favorite podcasts....

sorry. should've been clearer. I meant from the browser. For example, if I went to a website on my old windows phone, I could download a mp3 file directly from their website and play it on the phone. does the iphone allow you to do that?

that's lame. are they trying to prevent copyright infringement or something?

no, it's much simpler then that, they just don't download anything on the browser. especially nasty mp3's. (Apple product)
