Old News for V710 Bluetooth?
by Dr. Findlius Pignit    Aug 19, 2004, 1:13 PM
in the Motorola V710 forum

Quote taken directly from the "Bluetooth USB PC Adapter PLUS Mobile PhoneTools 2.0 CD ROM - 98575" product page. Compatibility: This bundle of Bluetooth PC USB Adapter and the mobile PhoneTools version 2.0 is compatible with the Motorola V600 Bluetooth enabled phone. NOTE: Currently, the Motorola V710 phone distributed in North America supports Mobile Phone Tools only through a USB cable connection. A solution to support Mobile Phone Tools over a Bluetooth connection should be available later this year. So... they've got four months do deliver before end of the year. Dr. Pignit

Re: Answering phone w/ hands free headset

It's not. They're talking about buttons on headsets. All bluetooth headsets have a multifunction button (sometimes referred to as a MFB) that can answer. Some wired headsets also have an answer/end button, though it doesn't always work on all phones - the mechanism to do it isn't 100% standardized, so a headset with a button from one mfr may or may not work with another mfr's phone. I think what you might want, short of buying a wired headset with an answer/end button, is to enable "any key answer" somewhere in the menus (I have no idea where it is). This *might* allow the outside buttons to answer a call. However, keep in mind that Motorola designed this as a clamshell without any real keylock feature, so for the most part they assume that when the phone is closed, the buttons shouldn't do much. Note that pressing a sequence (like vol/spkr) will allow you to change the ring style, and holding down the camera button starts up the camera. But generally speaking I think the idea is that when the phone is closed, it shouldn't be "doing stuff" unless you've got BT connected. So there's no guarantee that the "any key answer" feature will work. If it doesn't, though, a headset with a button shouldn't be more than $20 or so.

I'm using this phone w/Tmobile, the phones great, but still can't get the browser working. Any suggestions ( I tried the v300 comparison and that didn't work) Thanks! Below is the instructions we tried (unscucessfullY: The Motorola V878 is a Chinese market phone however; it is possible to use the phone with T-Mobile service. From the Main Menu screen navigate to Browser. Scroll to and select Profiles. NOTE: A list of HK service providers with their GPRS/WAP settings will appear. Select the first profile and then select Rename, clear and enter "t-zones GPRS", select Save. Select the t-zones GPRS profile and select Edit. The following menu options appear (do not forget to save). * Homepage: * Session Mode: Temporary * Connection security: Off * Data bearer: GPRS * Access Point: wap.voicestream.com * IP address: 216.155.165.050 * Authentication type: normal * User names: (leave blank) * Password:(leave blank) Highlight the t-zones GPRS profile and press the Menu key. Select Set As Default.
