Re: 1800/1900 + 800 or 900?

Brooke said: ... how limiting is *not* having 900 in Europe? It depends on your carrier's roaming agreements, if you plan to roam with your own SIM. If you plan to use prepaid SIMs, (cheaper but not your phone number,) then 1800 carriers are usually cheaper anyway. Most European/Asian countries have both 900 and 1800, but not all. Check this site to see which networks are which frequencies in which countries: http://www.gsmworld.com/ Is there a phone with 800/900/1800/1900? Yes. That's called quad-band, and it's starting to become more common. The Motorola V400, V500, V525, and V600 are all quad-band, and the Treo 600, NEC 515/525, and the Sharp GX-30. Note that you only need GSM 800(850) with AT&T or Cingular - T-Mobile is all 1900, so you have a much wider selection of good world phones to choose from with them.

CDMA phone manufacturers
by Linguist    Mar 21, 2004, 1:08 AM
in the Verizon forum

I've been looking around at what phones different carriers have had to offer and figure the best way to do it is to take recommendations on what phones/manufacturers NOT to get. I haven't got a lot of experience with CDMA, but I know where not to go with TDMA/GSM. Any models to look out for and keep far away? Note I don't want to open a phone bashing thread here, only know which phones have problems with them. Sorry, motopaulie: Motorola is already ruled out due to bad personal experience, and it would take a lot for me to try one again. Suggestions?
