Motorola V600
I got one!
For about $570, the FEDEX box came with:
V600, matching Moto Bluetooth Headset, an extra V600 metal cover (metallic green), USB cable and CDROM.
Overall, a good value for the bundle of goodies. (I was also willing to pay a little extra for it right now, as I'm leaving for Asia in a few days and absolutely had to get a new phone.)
This phone was FedExed from Hong Kong. It came with one piece of paper in Chinese, and the packaging on the headset was in Chinese, but all of the manuals are English.
The place I ordered it from:
http://www.plemix.com »
The one caveat. It didn't come with a SIM card (which may or may not be normal for a sim free model... đ). So I used both my wife's...

Or is thier the need to program the phone which ever service provider you are going to use ,,to access their on line services example
(M-Mode, T-Zones, ect.)
Another question does it have any logos ,stickers of somesort(Vodafone,)any at all?
From the moment of purchase I figure you paid with a credit card to the moment it arrived how long did it take? how much for shipping?
Would really appreciate youre help trying to get one myself
I ordered it this week on Monday. Tuesday I got the tracking number, and the phone arrived Wednesday morning about 9:30. I paid about $20 for FedEx priority shipping.
I didn't have any internet service on my plan, so I don't know if Mmode will work without setup. From appearances, it looks like it's ready to go. Although on the Motoroal v600 support pages, it looks like there is some setup for Mmode.
I know this next thing is maybe a little to much to ask but could it be possible for you to e-mail me some pictures the way it came package and the contents Iam sorry but would love to see it ... that was quick shiping congrats on youre new phone... another thing where are you located in the us what city???
E-mail armani9901@hotmail.com
Houston Tx.
It took a little bit of a leap of faith. I only proceeded after emailing Plemix a couple of questions.
I paid by credit card through paypal. If it would have turned out to be a fraud, I was covered, twice.
I live in Millbrae California, near San Francisco.
US charger & Euro charger
Motorola HS810 Bluetooth Headset
All 4 faceplates sets (blue, green, silver and red)
A fully bound and printed US manual for the phone
USB cable and CD
and...a guarantee (I know, no such thing) to upgrade me to the Motorola V80 or any other phone I wanted in the future. He was honest and has kept in touch with me since then, so I trust him now. He shipped it in 3 days and accepted only PayPal or credit card. He shipped via FedEx and provided a transactio number PRIOR to ship. All in all, an excellent experience...this was approx. 1 ...

(It was interesting thinking about how the v600 covers would fit it, but no... đ
I haven't downloaded any rigntones yet because I don't have a wallet or card yet...
To update you all on what I've learned:
1) The phone is NOT buggy, I haven't had any problems yet.
2) The phone that I got from Asia is pre-populated with some text message samples in Chinese. I overwrote the Orange configuration to set up mMode. It seems there is only one free browser setting, and the pre-configured networks are not removable, but editable.
3) I was wondering why they sent me two manuals with the same exact cover. Inside one is English, and the other is Chinese.

How?? And thanks if you can help. I want to set up my German Voda V525 for T-Mobile

A couple of questions for you guys that have them... especially through that plemix site. One... is the phone REALLY worth $585 shipped? I mean, I know we all want the phone and all, but is it REALLY worth twice the price of the V400 (honestly)?
Secondly, What ARE the bugs? On an AT&T network... especially in this area (Metro Detroit area) if anyone is from here... how does the phone work? Are there any service issues, is t...

The only issue that I have had was the bluetooth headset (jabra) not being picked up. It had been working. I restarted the phone, and it is working again.
I may have done something wrong as I had just sent a friend with a T616 a contact via bluetooth.
By the way, for those of you who've been watching, I figured out what the Chinese text was... they were pre-written text messages like "I'll be there at *** o'clock." or "Don't leave without me." They were also there in english, so I didn't have to re-add them.
Everyone that I have shown this phone too at work has two comments. One they love it, and two they think I'm crazy for paying almost 600 for it...
I think it's a bit steep, but worth it. ...

These guys sell metal covers for something like $30 I think.
i have a quickie question. people report that there are bugs in the sw on this phone. with buying it stand-alone like this, how can you upgrade the software on the phone? if you go with AT&T as your provider, say they push down a software update (would they even for a non-ATT phone) would it possibly lock the phone or install other things you didn't want (hence the reason for buying it unbranded).
i'd consider this route if it's possible to get upgrades (even if i have to download them myself over the web) and not get locked by AT&T or some other provider.
PCTools for the v600 comes with a data cable. I have had to update the firmware on my phone in the past, and it's not that difficult. (And that was not on an early version of a phone.)
Your other questions are good, guessing I would say that ATT cannnot randomly update your phone and lock it.
1. How did it work with the cingular sim card? 2. Did it come with A US charger?
3. Was the sim card part plug n play to just get it up and making calls?
4. Have you found the mic hole on the headset to move too close to your face and distort your outgoing sound for the other caller?
Thanks
Right now I see $575 (without shipping) for a V600 and a bluetooth headset (which does not specify which one). Can you give me some more insight?
I want to get the same/similiar package...but I don't see how you did it.
Anyone want to comment OR have a better deal they know of on the net?
1. An unbranded, unlocked, SIM-free v600, with silvery covers, and 0B.09.1CR firmware; everything seems to be working great so far!
2. two manuals, 1 in English, 1 Chinese(?)
3. a "phone strap & screen wiping stick" used to wipe grease off the surfaces (but it can't attach anywhere on the v600, so it's pretty much useless)
4. battery
5. charger cable with U.S. adapter
6. Mobile Phone Tools v2.0 (with software & a USB data cable) to sync with the phone - only works with Windows 98+ not Macintoshes! âšī¸ ($35)
7. Matching Motorola HS801 bluetooth 1.1 headset ($120)
8. Extra gunmetal v600 covers ($20)
.. which means I paid about US$400 for the phone (+battery & ...

So the phone came with more than actually stated on the website?
The website lists 5 items:
The manual, v600, headset, lithium battery, and rapid charger. It seems you got an extra cover, and Mobile Phone Tools v2.0 with usb data cable. Is this correct?
I wonder if I order just the phone (which they have for $515) if I will get the same extra items.

0B.09.1CR works great. I don't know what's the difference between it and 0B.09.1DR though (supposed to be the latest version)? Why does Motorola make their versions so cryptic?!
Cassie đ
Was gonna order a V600 from Plemix (Phone and Bluetooth) does the phone come with pre-installed ringtones and wallpapers? Alot of phones out there w/o them.
Did they supply electric adapter and all Motorola packing? (manual, CD, etc?_
Thanks đ
Cassie đ
Apparently 0B.09.9ER is popping up in the wild too. if only Moto would publish a changelog or give the version numbers more meaning...

With the MPT II software and the cable, I can control the phone from the computer (dial people, edit the phone's datebook, send email through the phone, use the phone as a modem, copy pictures & songs from/to the phone & computer. I can download pictures I take with the camera with the software & cable. I can download ringtones on my computer then put it on the phone through the software & cable.
Any 30-second mp3 file or MIDI file can be used as a ringtone, and you can find them anywhere! đ
Hope this helps,
Cassie
(any MIDI or MP3 song file can be used as a ringtone, don't pay for them off paysites!!!)
I'm having NO problems with my v600 at all, and I've poked around everywhere around in the phone. (Its firmware is 0B.09.1CR_A ...)
Cassie!
Also plemex seems to be a US located supplier, you said it came from an international location, can you tell us the originating shipping location?
Thanks in advance.
Plemix sent my phone from Hong Kong.
You're welcome!
Cassie
If you have Tmobile, can you send me the internet connections to get onto TZones?
Thanks a bunch....I too am from Chicago.

Sorry I don't have TZones information âšī¸

I found the firmware version on my v600 after installing the MPT II software and connecting the v600 to the computer. The software has an "information" button that brings up the firmware.
My v600 has firmware 0B.09.1CR ... the latest stable v600 firmware out available people say is 0B.09.1DR right now (The first number is the major version (0B) and it changes whenever Motorola adds major new stuff ... the second number (09) changes whenever Moto fixes major bugs ... the third number (1CR/1DR) changes when Moto fixes minor bugs) ... 1CR and 1DR doesn't sound like a huge enough jump for me to try to upgrade - and my phone is working good enough for now on 1CR đ I might upgrade if I ...

Cassie, thank you! Haven't tried it just yet, but will soon. Number still not ported completly. On a separate note, how is your reception in Chicago? i'm on the 39th floor in NY and my phone is displaying 'Emergency Calls Only' 95% of the time in the building. When I get to street level, I'm OK.
Also for any NY people here: I'm on the Upper West Side near Riverside Dr. My reception is just as bad as at work: no bars and I can barely get a call out. Interested in hearing from any ATT people in this area regarding your experience with ATT reception on any GSM/GPRS handset.
My cell phone (old v60) is currently on Verizon and the service and calls from it are indistinguishable from a land line...

i had my v60 on verizon also..it was great..but tmobile is not too shabby either.
can anyone help me with my vodaphone v600? i can't get the Vodaphone Live! feature off my homescreen..been reading up on all the flash/flex posts so far but i'm clueless âšī¸

Sorry if this is obvious, but also make sure the headset is in pairing mode. I use a Jabra headset; don't know what the instructions for an HS8XX are.
i thought it was weird since i get the bluetooth waiting indicator sometimes..tried to use it but then it just says that there are no devices listed...
any other tips?
i just realized that my headset is out of batt. too...did anyone else's phone come with a charger for the bluetooth?
When your trying to set up the headset, is the headset open and flashing? If it isn't, then it needs to be charged. It comes delivered stone dead.
yeah it was flashing when i was trying to set up the headset...it's my phone that's not detecting it when i go to the headset thing
Matching Motorola HS801 bluetooth 1.1 headset
Question the HS800 headset is the older model that motorola carries, the current one is the HS810, so what's the deal with HS801 is that the same previous model ???
My question is which of the 2 headsets does (PLEMIX) provide in thier deal the HS800 or the
HS810 the newer version headset???
Would really apreciate responce in this matter cause first thing Monday I will place the order but would like to know which headset,if the older one is provided so I can go ahead in order the HS810 via motorola and just get the phone via plemix.
Thanx đ
old 800 (not cool looking, doesn't match the vXXX phones, right ear only?):
Weight: 28 grams
Talk Time: 4 hours
Stand-by Time: 70 hours
801 (matches the style of the vXXX phones):
Weight: 23 grams
Talk Time: 4 hours
Stand-by Time: 90 hours
810 (just slightly different design vs. 801):
Weight: 20 grams
Talk Time: "up to" 5 hours
Stand-by Time: 100 hours
Both the 801 and 810 looks similar. the 810 seems to have better specs ... plemix.com gave me the HS801 (the middle one) with my package, but I'm happy with it!
Hope this helps,
Cassie đ

Thanx for the input on the V600, got mine in today from Plemix.
One of your replies listed a wap address for moto downloads of wallpapers and ringtones for free? Let me know when you have a chance.
Thanks from a fellow Chicagoan w/ a V600..

Are you Chicagoans using the V600 on the AT&T network? How has your reception been so far? What area are you in?
"Very clear connections even when there's only 1 signal bar (using AT&T in Chicago) đ" - downtown and near south
Cassie
you could also go there on your computer browser and download to your computer and copy it to your phone (save on your download time!) đ
