bah!!!!! all of you who are whining about so-called 'cool phones' need to grow up. Truely, verizons phone have been lame in the past but theyve put a ton of effort into improving that. Examples: LG8600, Chocolate(I admit-any colour besides black looks tacky), Samsung 970,Moto Q black, samsung U340, samsung A930, LG enV are all cool devices.
The real issue is that you are likely used to the flash-in-the-pan designs of the GSM carriers' phones. Nokia and sonyericsson are scandinavian companies with decidedly european tastes in style, thus you see artsy-looking devices such as the sonyericsson W810, sammy sync, nokia n-series, nokia 7370, 7380, and moto Rizr.
You should define what features and attributes that you find 'cool' about any phone (slide, flip, web, video, TV, Qwerty, bluetooth, music, etc) and then when you shop a carrier's store, ask the rep (if you have the moxy to handle a sales rep) what phons have those provisions and to show you how they are used. You will find that most carriers are ordering the same phones, just with custom software tweaks and outer shells tailored to that carriers network and business needs.
You know what I find 'cool' about a phone? when it frikkin makes calls everywhere I go. And thats what I get with my 'dull' LG 8300.
