Re: I played with the iPhone then the Droid and

I think you've made a wise decision. On top of getting a great phone you want it to be on a great network and AT&T fails at that. I tried AT&T once, had a great phone, but left because of the network. When I left I said, man I wish this phone was on Verizon. It was a RAZR2 V9x and was great but AT&T's network couldn't handle it. I've had my DROID for about a week now and I love it! It's the best thing out there. I have friends who have the iPhone and I have an iPod Touch. The thing I noticed about the Touch/iPhone was it was slow! The Droid is so much faster. AT&T goes about saying how fast their network is but if the device doesn't have a fast processor it won't matter if they get 5MBps it'll only go as fast as the device will let it. The Droid is nearly as fast at processing and tasks as my PC (maybe faster cuz my computer is old). Here are some things I've noticed with iPhone users: 1. They like AT&T because they have the iPhone. 2. They like AT&T because they never had Verizon. If they tried Verizon most would probably stay with Verizon. 3. They like the iPhone because they haven't tried the DROID and the iPhone has been out longer so they understand it better. And finally 4, the reason some people would rather have the iPhone is because it's a "Diva Phone". It's all about saying it's made by Apple (having the Apple logo), or because their friends have one, or because they will feel cool for having one. Look folks, how is it cool for Apple to be so "locked-down". Even iTunes isn't compatible on most devices, you HAVE to have a iPod of some sort. At least on Napster I can use my music on EVERYTHING without having to convert something! Android is open. Note: This comment does NOT pertain to all iPhone users, it's simply an opinion I gathered by observation. But one who calls themselves a self-proclaimed tech geek would at least try to prove if the iPhone or Droid is better and not be a fanboy about it. Even I myself thought the iPhone was pretty cool, but then the Droid came out and changed all that.

VZW offers a month-to-month option, they have since around mid 2008. You can purchase the equipment from them at full retail or you can provide your own (old phone, purchase from eBay). Note that this is NOT prepaid. You get the exact same pricing and feature options as a postpaid customer with a contract. No contract required, and 100% no ETF.

Sigma1570 said: Then why is the title of your entire post called "Looking for a Good Replacement to the Samsung Eternity, Either Impression or Mythic" It started this way because that was my original intention. What they say and what actually happens is completely different. I've seen it done plenty of times so please stop acting like I havent' been doing this for 7 years. Well if AT&T would actually honor and enact their intentions of the Warranty Exchange, which are to satisfy their customer's needs as well as to resolve the problems they are having with their devices, then we wouldn't be here having this argument. You could argument your own will and wit that they are doing this but the DAMN TRUTH here they are replacing what was supposed to be a truly good device with INFERIOR CRAP. With the nature of the problems I have incurred with this device, they should step up to the level of the costs they are receiving for their service to fulfill their customer's needs. The TRUTH HERE THAT WE ALL KNOW IS THEY'RE NOT!! This, IMHO, is the reason the sheyat flies and hits the fan and twists in a multitude of directions. Had this not been the case, then maybe we would not be here having this rant and rave argument. Note of advice: Stop talking down to customers like they are a bunch of dumb a55e5.

Lorna, What phone did you end up with? I tested from the store 3 different phones using the speakers. The Barrage, the samsung convoy and the Casio rock. I made calls to another phone guy to make the comparisons. Conclusions: The Barrage speaker was ok but not as loud as the the Samsung which was the loudest of the three. The samsung also had more talk power. The rock was ok and louder than the Barrage with it's speaker, however the mic on it was on the tinny side and not loud enough to callers. Note: I know that the barrage had problems with the first ones that were manufactured and there was a subsequent update to the newer ones that supposedly fixed the volume problems. I don't know which vintage I tested in the store so maybe the newer ones would outdo the Samsung Convoy.

How it works: this is T-mobile cheating people

in the Article: ETF for Nexus One May Reach $550 forum

This is the same for almost any independent dealer. First, the dealer's (Google's) cancellation fee may only be if you cancel and don't return the phone (I haven't read Google's terms to know if they allow for this long return period). The dealer doesn't get paid by T-Mobile if you cancel within 4 months, even though T-Mobile is going to collect an ETF from you. So if you activate today, then cancel next month, T-Mobile gets your ETF... AND doesn't have to pay the dealer! What a scam against their own dealers. The dealer did their part and got you to sign up (and not return the phone within the trial period), but they still lose the phone. Thus, dealer ETFs were invented. It would be generous of Google to allow a 4-month return to avoid their ETF, as Google is then stuck with a used phone in place of a new piece of inventory, and no money to make up for it. Note that this does not apply if T-Mobile ends up selling the Nexus One themselves and you buy it from them.
