You can get the data only plan, it's 29.99 per month. Sounds like some dealers just don't want to sell you the data only plan because they don't get paid enough commission on it.

personally, I'd never buy anything through an authorized wireless dealer. Every day I am fixing their mistakes (e.g. customers wanting to get an upgrade, but the dealer added a line onto their account instead; selling a 'temporary' phone b/c they don't have any of the one you want, only not to be able to exchange it w/o their manager present). They like to sell you a phone, then send you to the corporate store to fix any questions/problems you encounter. Go review 'The Mobile Solution', 'Snap Wireless', or any of the other authorized dealers and you're sure to find numerous horror stories. Its your decision where you want to spend your money, but keep these questions in mind: *Is it worth the extra $25-75 for the service you get in a corporate store (honest answers, being able to ACTUALLY return/exchange a phone without the run around). *Wouldn't it be nice to go back to the original place of purchase and it still be in business? There is no telling when TMobile will drop an authorized dealer (e.g. Snap Wireless and Circuit City) *If you decide to cancel service after your trial period, would you want to pay two ETF (early termination fees)?

PROS: Stylish, easy to use, cheap unlimited text and internet feature, inegrated camera and music player. CONS: Not as feature-rich as similar PDAs, more of an emphasis on texting and checking your MySpace than anything else. Personally, if you're looking for a device that is similar but has more PDA-type features, I'd recommend the MDA. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Detail .aspx?device=8802ddeb-1ee4-477a-9608-d9cd1e2a903f It's $50 cheaper and I personally like it better.
