Mobile Phone Tools / Walkthrough (If Mulimedia Center is off)
OK, After reading posts here and at Howard Forums I am oulining how to get MPT to work on the razr v3c. I Have Windows XP Professional.
First: The verizon v3c is NOT supported with version 3.28 of MPT. BVRP the makers of MPT state this in their support forum. They state that it will be 'somewhat' supported in version 4.xx of MPT but will still not support Multimedia Center because verizon has disabled this feature (I wonder why?).
So here is how to still get it to work.
1. Download and install BVRP's Driver Tool.
http://www.bvrp.com/Customers/Motorola/Driv erTool.zip
2. Install MPT version 3.28 (If you have an earlier version run live update - I had 3.23 and had to run it twice to update it first to 3.25b and then again to 3.28)
3. When it installs it will ask you to connect your phone, do this and you should get the razr to come up with a tool bar on the right with one thing greyed out - the multimedia center. All other menus should not be greyed out.
4. The key now is to be able to select another phone. You might have to play around with the setup selection to do this but the key is to get to the point where MPT asks you to auto configure the driver (I need some help in the exact steps for this as I forget exactly how I did this) and you need to manually configure it. You then select the Motorola E815m phone and bam - the multimedia center is no longer grayed out. I have transfered .mid files to my phone with no problem using multimedia tools (I have not tried wallpapers yet).
5. The phone on the screen will be the 815m. If you want to change the skin go to
Program Files\mobile PhoneTools\Skins folder
and rename moto_v3.INF to moto_815m.INF and rename moto_v3.png to moto_815m.png.
Note: When you first see the phone come on the screen after running MPT it takes a moment for it to register and the menus to work, you hear a few beeps from the phone as this happens.
Thanks to phonegrog and Mark_Venture from Howard Forums for their posts which helped me to get MPT to work for the V3c. One final thought - it really bugs me that we have to go through this - When is Verizon going to wake up and support full Bluetooth, and MPT fully - although I only use the Bluetooth for hands-free driving, I think it is almost fraud to cripple something that a phone has built into it (without reducing the price - greatly).
I hope this helps and if anyone can add to this, with better explanations I am sure we will all appreciate it.

Re: Does Verizon Offer an Educational Discount?
VZW does supply discounts to public school systems. They qualify as a state discount. In some cases they can be a huge discount off the bill and equipment. These discounts make s huge dent in your bill in most cases. Discounts are not offered in stores or resellers. You have to call 800-2-join-in.
This discount goes for anyone who works in the school system. Janitors, coaches, lunch ladies, and all the way up to principals!
Just as a side note... retirees are not eligible. sorry!!
Re: what is the deal?
The 32k and the 64k are different... the 64k has more memory... they work the same with contacts so ignore that those comments... it all has to do with the network that the SIM card picks up. the 32k sim card was made to work with the old cingular network before the merger with ATT. Your phone will roam differently when using the 32k vs. the 64k. you basically are going to look for what is now t-mobiles network before you find cingulars (t-mobile bought the old network). it's a trade off but it helps a little. note!!!! not all sims work with every phone... 3G cards are having problems with certain phones... not sure which ones or when... sorry.
