Which phone to buy for GSM, ATT

Hi

I am looking for a phone to buy and currently uses Nokia 6230.

Compared to a Motorola I had, it doesn't beep periodically, if I miss a call. Also reading the display might be tough.

I am looking for SIP capable. Also somewhat a PDA oriented with To Do list etc.

Could someone recommend me one? I have looked at N95 and also lower priced ones. Ideally, I might want to spend $300 or less but open.

Palm Gandolf aka Palm Treo 800p

If Palm Gandolf aka the Palm Treo 800p is tentatively launching sometime this holiday season, does that mean a Frodo and Samwise will follow? I smell another LOTR series. 🤣

GSM Frequencies

I was just wondering if anyone knew the details of how well a phone, for example one of the many SE that use 900/1900, would work in the US like that SE P1i thats coming out some time soon.

Can I ask my dumb tech questions here?

I'm trying to become a cell-phone tech geek. I've been reading through the glossary here on phnoescoop but I have 4 quick question. Is EV-DO to CDMA what EDGE is to GSM, except faster?

2. If a CDMA phone doesn't use EV-DO, what would it probaby use? (its slower than EV-DO, I know that much)

3. Can a full browser on a Treo work without EV-DO for using the internet?

4. This ones a little confusing; If a company carries treo 650's, but not anything higher, would the scripting for data usage for 650's work on a 680 or 700 if it was flashed on to it?

BONUS QUESTION!: Does any of this make sense?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Is the IDEN network going to disappear all together??

👀 Is the IDEN network going to disappear all together?? What if people like my friends and I like the network. Not to mention phones like the I880. I wish Nextel never sold out to Sprint, merge whatever. People like the government use IDEN all day long I see. My friends like police officers, firefighters, etc use the IDEN phones like the I880 and if they wanted a cdma phone hence the hybrid I am talking about we should just go to VERIZON!!

iPhone name change

I don't know why the Cisco people won't just let Apple keep the iPhone name! Everyone already recognizes the phone as the iPhone, and if they changed the name of it, everyone would still keep calling it the iPhone, and they would never call it anything else. It would be hopeless to even try to change the name of it.

A new Sony Ericsson for the new ATT/formerly Cingular coming out?

I LOVED my Sony Ericsson W600 but it is broken. So I need another phone. I got the Samsung Synch and truthfully..it is hard TO sync! The S.E just plugged in your pc via usb cable, drag and drop, even large photo files, and you are done. On my new Sync I cannot easily add mp3's, photos that are on my pc, AND cannot even use an mp3 for a ring tone???

So anyways, I heard that the W810 is now discontinued. What do suggest I buy for a replacement..or should I wait until another S.E comes out? (my dear w600 is unable to charge sometimes but I can try to rescue it until I return this sync and get something else.

What I want in a phone...
Easily add files to my phone, photos, mp3 etc
Themes and different kinds of ways to customize
Inte...

Sprint TV worth it?

I've been wrestling with the idea of getting Sprint TV. But I've got a couple of questions for people who have it.

-Do you like it?
-How often do you use it?
-is it worth the monthly fee?

Thanks in advance! 🙂

Spectrum Holdings

Hey does anyone know where I can find a list of spectrum holdings by region for the wireless carriers?

What I'm wondering is will there be many areas at&t will not be able to cover with 3G simply because of the 5MHz requirement of UMTS?
