Business Card Scanner

Okay. I generally know quite a bit about cell phones and I like to keep myself well informed on all the latest and greatest technology. But I have to ask what exactly is the purpose of having a business card scanner on your cell phone. What does it do, and why have one in the first place?

GSM/Voip Phone

I bought a the hipi 2300 made by Paragon Wireless off of Ebay for $425. This phone accepts my T-mobile SIM card and I signed up for a VOIP plan for 10 dollars a month that allows unlimited calling w/in my state. I have two phone #'s now. One for T-mobile and one for the VOIP service. Both lines can be active at the same time. The VOIP quality is good. Dual mode phones like this one are being released sometime this year by different manufacturers. I got my hands on one early 🙂

Here's a pic of it

GSM networks

OK this is not to start anykind of a GSM vs CDMA war or Cingular vs T-Mobile war, just wanted other people's thought on a matter.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but all the major companies have roaming agreements with one another. So wouldn't this mean that as long as you have a phone with the 850 and 1900 band your covreage would be the same not matter what company you have.

Wouldn't the only limiting factor be your cell phone's ability to find a tower.

Since T-mobile and Cingular both use 1900 and T-mobile roams with Cinuglar's 850. Why would their coverage be any different?

Bar Phones vs clam shells

Am I the only person in the world (OK the USA) who is basically forced into purchasing a bar style phone?
Surely there are more than just a few of us who cannot have a camera phone, don't care or need a mp3 player, but want a high quality "phone" with bluetoooth and a phone book.
A Sanyo 7050 in bar style would make me have to go and spend $$$ on a new phone.

unlocked Iphone?

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to unlock an iphone and use it on tmobile service?
I mainly was intrigued that its not the "watered down internet" but the actual internet. Besides texting, internet is the other main use of my current tmo phone.

Bringing a phone from Japan to the US

I live in the US and really want a phone from Japan, but nothing I have researched is even remotely new or conclusive.

I have US Cellular right now which is a CDMA carrier, but I am willing to switch over to AT&T for GSM if I must, but my question: is this even possible to do? Can I bring a phone from Japan and put it to a service here in the US?

Thanks

I have an Alltel Motorola Q and wanted to change the catagories for the contacts.

Hi, I just got a Q and was tweaking my contacts and wanted to modify the categories that you can separate them into (business, personal, holiday, and seasonal). I can't seem to find a way to change, add to, or edit them. If anyone knows how or if they know that it isn't possible please let me know.
Thanks

I need Screen Resolution data in an easy access format

Hi,

I am trying to develop a spreadsheet containing details of screen sizes for as many phones as possible. I work for a Bluetooth Advertising company and need to ensure that I produce my files in sizes suitable for all the different handsets out there.

I know that this data is available on this website but it will take me far too long to compile the data into a format I need by hand. I would really appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks

Scott
