Maybe 1.3MP cameras are better than 2MP for mobiles ?

My understanding is that for a given size of image sensor inside the camera, having fewer pixels gives you better light sensitivity, and of course lower resolution.

Most camera phones probably have very small image sensors (compared to a decent digital camera).

My experience so far has been that the resolution on VGA cameras just isn't good enough. But I've had decent satisfaction with 1.3MP. We just got our first 2MP mobile, the Samsung M610.

It seems like the M610 has to set the shutter speed so slow (to let enough light in) that the pictures are very often blurry, especially if the subject is moving whatsoever or if you don't have a steady hand. Bright light certainly helps.

I'm thinking that with today's technology, ...

Plz Clarify: SAR rating variations

Why does the SAR rating vary so much between the 800 - 850 MHz and the 1900 MHz bands on some phones. E.g the SAR rating on the new Sanyo SCP-7050 1.22 W/kg for the head in the 800-850 MHz range while only .875 W/kg for the head in the 1900 MHz range. Another phone like the Sanyo Katana has SAR ratings of .678 W/kg for the head in the 800-850 MHz range while the 1900 MHz range has a rating of .882 W/kg.

Are these ratings valid with such a big range between the bands?

I am concerned about the radiation levels and want to get a safe phone with the features I want. I would prefer the 7050, since it has more memory and would have it set to Sprint PCS only which is the 1900 MHz range, but not sure if I believe the number, since the other ba...

LG-510 Question

I have been using an LG-510 phone that I love, for the past five years and it has finally died, the hinge broke.

I hate the new phones, too small and too smooth for my large hands.

I have access to a couple of the same phones for cheap ($10.00 each), they both light up with the same carrier info as mine.

I called my carrier and found out that they will not activate them because they don't have the new 911 chip.

Is there a way I can make one of them work? Change a chip or card or something that contains "my" info. Or perhaps I can just swap cases?

Anybody been there, done that?

Motorola V3xx 3G or V3i. HELP!!!!

Hello,
So I am struggling to get a new phone and I just cannot seem to decide between the Motorola Razor V3xx 3G or the V3i. I think they both look amazing in the sort of gunmetal gray and I haven't had enough cons on either of them to sway me one way or the other. So please help me. Any feed back on which one I should get is appreciated!!! Thank!!!

Windows Mobile Flip Smartphone with plug in keyboard

I prefer to keep my email device seperate from my personal phone because of the bulk factor and the fact that I like a flip phone. However, I would love to converge the two if possible. Has anyone heard of any upcoming releases of a flip phone that runs windows Mobile (like the current Pantech on Verizon) that allows one to plug in a keyboard to use if one wants to type? I used to have an old ericsson world phone that did exactly this (forget the model number). I think something like this would be a big seller.

TDMA vs GSM quality

I am frustrated with GSM voice/signal quality, am I alone? I have Cingular service with a Blackberry 8700 and an old TDMA Nokia. I always chose the Nokia to talk because the Blackberry is so bad, it is weak, it breaks up and drops calls. The Nokia sounds like a landline. Cingular will soon discontinue TDMA service, is there anything good to go to with any carrier? Seems like technology is going backward! Thanks.

Complaining about the Spring/Upstage vs. M1

Okay, I'll try to be as brief as I can. . a week ago I bought the new Upstage because I had decided to let myself splurge and get Sprint Vision Ultimate Pack as well, well a week later and after many phone calls with Sprint--(not exactly happy phone calls either) I've found that the upstage doesn't have working navigation yet (coming May 1st or so I was told), NFL Mobile doesn't work with it, NFL Network didn't work but after a weeks worth of complaining magically they got it to work. I've spent about 2 to 3 hours on the phone with sprint regarding other issues as well. . .

by the way I was told that nfl mobile was available on my phone to then be told later it wasn't . . . annoying

Okay, so then I find out my phone isn't working pro...

To anyone that sells the T-Mobile Nokia 6133

And to anyone having problems with the Nokia 6133:

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

Just read some reviews and thought I'd share some insight.

A lot of complaints were about the grainy/green pic quality. I've seen this problem too, but if you go into the options menu and put it on 'night mode', it should clear it up and it doesn't take pictures that are too bright, like most night mode settings.

Also, I heard some complaints about sending pics and videos, saying that if you try to send video or pic messages, it would shut off or reboot the phone.
This is true. However, it's IMEI specific. Any phone IMEI starting with lower numbers than 3555 will most likely have this problem. If you do, simply go into the ...

Viewing text message senders

Is the feature of being able to see who a text message is from before opening it specific to the phone or does your wireless service have to offer it? I am shopping for a new phone and have been a Nokia/Cingular customer since day one. None of my Nokias have had this option and with the increase of spam messages, I would like to be able to see who is sending me the message first.
