stupid question

This is probably not the place to ask this, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.
Just had a customer ask for a dongle for the external antenna for a Moto V3. I don't know if it was a Cingular or one of ours. He of course didn't bring his own phone in, he wanted me to hand over my display phone while he pulled out his knife and wanted to remove a plug with it! I didn't know that V3 had a port for an external antenna, I thought that external antennas caused more problems than they fixed, and besides, what good will an external antenna do if you have a digital only phone and no digital towers within 30 or 40 miles. Geez. I'm just venting a little. Sorry..... Oh, the question. Can I get a dongle for the v3 that will connect with an e...

Wow

Yes, I'm so impressed, you work for a company that sometimes deals with credit information... so does every person here at my job... that doesn't mean you have great credit. In Fact... the credit report we've run shows exactly the opposite. Yes I realize you just gave us your credit card number and social, but no, that does not mean I can ignore your very low credit score and give you service with no deposit anyways.

Do people honestly think we have any control over what the credit report says? I haven't, in case anybody get confused, there is no button that says 'waive deposit' on it.

Stupid

Stupid stuff that annoys the crap out of me

"Thats an easy number to remember"
...It doesnt matter WHAT number it is, some annoying person always says that. The only person who really needs to memorize your number these days is yourself. If you cant memorize it after the first, second or third time, then you probably have a difficult time memorizing your street address also and there is little hope for yourself.

"Do you have (insert random product)?"
"No we dont carry that"
"AWWWWW...ARE YOU SERIOUS?"
...No, I wasn't serious. I just felt like lying to you for the purpose of not earning commission.

"Do you guys carry cingular?"
"No theres a cingular store next to payless shoes directly behind us"
"Oh because my phones broken...

If you're going to...

If you're going to come on and say 'oh my provider is best.' please rethink, it's going to start a flame-thread the minute you do that and frankly, no matter what provider you work for, you're full of crap.

No provider is the best all the time, there are always places where a provider can make improvements, places that are less than perfect.

T-Mobile REALLY needs to improve our coverage, but we offer decent plans at good prices. Our nights are only 9pm and I think it would be nice to have an option to bump those forward. We come back around however and win lots of awards for customer service though.

Verizon had wonderful coverage and usually comes in second for customer satisfaction however their phones can be restrictive (because...

I broke it. Now you have to give me another one for free...

Why do people think this actually works? When does any of this actually work? If you wreck the car you bought, do they give you another one for free? If you sign up for cable and throw your TV out the window, do they give you another one for free? If you burn down your apartment by setting your curtains on fire with a lighter, does your landlord say, "I'm sorry about making those curtains so flammable. Here's a new apartment for free. And since you've been paying your rent on time for 2 months now, I'll buy you a car too." When you've been eating at McDonald's for years, do they greet you at the door, seat you and give you free food? I don't care how long you've been going to Marathon stations for gas. They don't give you a free fillup just ...

O yea, not to mention the 50 minute hold time for an activations rep...

Technicians Lament

I want to understand why it is that because I am a technician customers believe that I can fix everything they have done to their phones. From Oatmeal oozing out of the back, to broken in 20 peices because it fell off a house. We are technicians not miracle workers. Sometimes when you drop your phone in paint it's not going to work. 🀨

Finally got one of those lil demons...

I finally got one of those lil SOBs, heres how it went down....

I work in a kiosk, in the largest mall in NJ, so i had just finished cleaning our 5 glass containers, now the way the kiosk is set up, is that there are 5 containers and a space for a door, 3 glass containers on 1 side, and 2 and the door opening on the other

so this 8 yr old lil punk comes up and start rubbin his tongue and blowing raspberrys on all my fresh cleaned containers, so i thought of something, i ran to the other side of the kiosk and sprayed window cleaner on the glass case the little demon hadnt gotten to, the face he gave was one i could never explain, i was so happy and satified, i spent the rest of the day smiling, mawhahahh 😈 😈 😈...

And the day has only just begun...

Yes, I love it. I've only been at work for 2 hours and 8 minutes.
First fun customer of the day:
Customer: Yeah I'm looking for the Cingular phone company.
Me: Ok, is there something I can answer for you?
Customer: Yeah, um I saw this ad in the paper for some phones...(long, silent pause)
Me: Ok
Customer: Well I wanna get one. What do I need to do?
Me☹️since we're a retail store) Well you will need to come to the store to set one up.
Customer: Ok well where are you?
Me: Well where are you located so I can let you know?
Customer: XXXXXXXXXXX

Second fun customer:

I hate seeing 10 year old kids in my store with no parents

I ahd these kids come in over the weekend who
came in. It seems they were taking lessons on how to behave from their parent's. First kid says is it true I can have the RAZR for free. I turned to him and said" are you buying anything today?

The kid: Yeah yo I wanna phone.

Me: I'm sorry you are too young.

The kid: the commercial said I can have a phone for free.

Me: You have to have your parents sign you up.

The kid: Verizon sucks and your phone are crap

Me: (Thinking) yeah! Tell that to consumer reports.

I admire people like you.

Customer I just finished placing an order for... can I like clone him or something?

Spoke clearly (even if he had an accent, he laughed about it and spelled phonetically when I had a little trouble with it.) Asked intelligent questions, listened to the answer and then asked more intelligent clarifying questions.

Had done SOME basic research, knew that the phones he wanted were NICE phones, knew most of what they did and was willing to accept that to get that level of engineering in a phone you have to pay. He joshed around with me about the price but accepted that I had no control over it. He realized that to get the most out of that phone he really ought to buy a few accessories (such as the BT headset.)

And he had great credit,...

Geez, over there?!

Or at least that's the general feeling I get when I ask people(when they ask me if I know when their account goes out) to step over to our computer so I can look up their account.
