Get the Thunderbolt or wait?

Ok guys I'm up next week for a new phone should I get the Thunderbolt or wait for the Vigor to come out in October?

Wi-Fi reboot?
Oct 28, 2008, 11:03 PM
in the HTC G1 forum

Anyone else's G1 rebooting when you turn off the wi-fi? I click it off, the phone reboots, wi-fi is still on when it reboots, then I click it off again and it's fine. It's happened every time I do it.

Because every review I've read lacks these. http://www.htc.com/www/product/g1/s pecification.html Hopefully the 528 mhz processor isn't only on the unlocked HTC version they'll sell over seas. We all know that's been one of the let downs with TMO's previous HTC phones.

Unforunately you'd have to sign a contract and not have FlexPay for that. I had a customer do this today though: she and her hubby were tired of paying huge phones bills at Sprint because their kids kept using up all the mins. So they each signed up separately and now the kids have their own mins and their own bill that they have to pay otherwise it automatically gets shut off at the beginning of the month. Not ...

Your choice is pretty much to add it or not, and have the msgs come out of the Flexaccount at .15/ea in & out. As long as the kids don't message alot you don't really need it. The only thing you'll need is the MyFaves to help with the minute sharing. Basically if you get a non-Myfaves family plan you're limited to calling only other T-Mobile customers for free. If you get the MyFaves you each get 5 spots ...

FlexPay Month 2 Month is only allowed to have 3 lines and contracted is only allowed to have 2. If you are going to activate more than one line you have to do them all at the same time. The system is not letting us go back and add lines later and have them activate on the same day, it's making the new lines wait until the beginning of the next month's billing cycle before it will take effect. ...

The initial cost to sign up is the first month's bill payment + price of the phone you want. The price of the phone depends on whether you are approved to sign a contract or not. If not you pay full invoice price for the phone. The price of the add-ons depends on the add-on. Unlike Smartaccess and TakeControl you can have any add-on you want. Tell me what you want and I'll give you an estimate about how much it ...

Just so you know, you'll be able to sign up for FlexPay, but right they are not allowing anyone to migrate existing T-Mobile numbers to the FlexPay system, so you'll have to get a new phone number.

I still think that the iPhone will be the PS3 of cell phones. It does not support/have third party programs, voice dialing, video recording, expandable memory, picture messaging, IM, A2DP playback, music ringtones. You can't search your phonebook only scroll through it or edit attachments. Most if not all of these are basic features on most phones already on the market that are much cheaper price wise. Also I found out today that it is being manufactered by the ...

I did and it still didn't help. I also tried Opera Mini and had some success, but still had some issues. I exchanged the device for a different issue and hoped it would kill 2 birds with 1 stone, but no such luck.

You can install it, but you can't use it. For once it's not a T-Mobile lock out either, it's Nokia lock out. They won't let you use any third party software on it. I checked with my Nokia rep who is pretty good about helping us with stuff like this and he said there's nothing that can be done. Even the non-branded version won't let you use it.

Wing IM issue
May 22, 2007, 10:20 PM
in the Article: Video Tour: T-Mobile Wing forum

I posted this over in the Wing forum as well. When I was playing with my store's demo I had a problem with not being able to close the IM program from the task manager on the home screen. It eventually stopped responding. After playing around I discovered another option kind of like the processes tab on a PC's task manager that allowed me to close out the IM program. Did you play with the IM program and if so ...

Wing IM issue

in the HTC Wing / P4350 (Herald) forum

While playing with my store's demo over the weekend I found that if I started the IM program that it would stop responding if I tried to close it using the task manager. I figured out if you go into the task manager there is an option for running processes, just like on the task manager on a PC, and you can close it that way. I'm not sure if this is just an issue with the demo we have ...

I'm not a huge fan of windows mobile, but I will take it over my Pearl's lack of the ability to load websites like Phonescoop anyday. The only problem I've had so far with the demo from my store is it has issues loading up the post a comment page on LiveJournal, other than that it's been great. I have to agree about Nokia's in general. I have the 5300 as my main phone and if it had email capabilities ...

You need a landline for DSL, but not for cable internet. Specifically to my area HotSpot @ Home is going to open up a whole section of the state that has no coverage. We have one town that if a customer tells us that's where they live we don't even do a PCC for them because the entire town has absolutely no coverage for T-Mobile. It's like there's a huge transparent wall that repels cell service in the town. Verizon ...

Re: T-Mobile Wing + T-Mobile WiFi

Hotspot @ Home is not wifi connectivity anywhere. It is a way for customers to use their phone to make calls over their existing home WiFi network as opposed to using a tower or at local Hotspots like Borders and Starbucks. Even though the Wing supports WiFi, it won't work with HotSpot @ Home other than to connect to the internet via the WiFi. If you have no coverage at home you still won't, but you'll be able to ...

Right now it's an exclusive release with AT&T. Until that time frame runs out no one gets it except them. Not to mention RIM is probably going to redesign it slightly for us to carry it like the did when they gave the Pearl to Cingular. I do agree that we should have jumped on it and gotten the exclusive release, but we have the Wing that came out today and the 8800 which just released to retail stores yesterday, but ...

Re: Prepay plans
May 15, 2007, 10:54 PM

There's no extra night and weekend mins on a prepaid. If you have 1000 mins on your phone that's what you have to use all the time until they run out. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Only our contracted customers get free nights and weekends in addtion to their plan mins. Activation price is the price of the phone/kit you buy unless you already own a phone that you would like to activate as PP then it is ...

No free nights & weekends. The Nokia 6030 right now is $29.99 in store. The Red Samsung t219 is $59.99 in store. All of the phones come with 10 mins already on them. You can buy more mins after you activate it.

Re: Prepay plans

nope. The messages come out of your mins. Right now it's .10/msg which works out to be around 1 min = 1 msg. TMO prepaid is the only prepaid where whatever mins you have are the mins you get. There are no hidden fees or daily access fees or anything like that. We're not going to take away 1 min everyday just so you can use your phone. This does not however apply to the prepaid Sidekick 3 which takes $1/day ...

Do a coverage check on t-mobile's website. Sometimes when they say there are no deals in your area it's because there's no coverage there. I work in the Boston market and I know our coverage can be kinda sketchy in Maine if your not in a major city. I'm talking like Ogunquit or Kittery. I also agree that getting a phone from a 3rd party is not the greatest idea. But if you have to do it, read all the ...

Is there a huge reason it needs to be in your name and not his? If it's just your preference then, no problem. Changing the info for an already activated prepaid account can sometimes be a pain. I usually recommend activating it in the account holder's name just to prevent any delays or hang ups in the port. I have also found that the fastest way to port a number to a prepaid phone is to have it activated ...

We call them "The Shady Solution" in my market. They had a news story done about them on a local news station about how they sold a Nokia N-series phone to a customer but it was in German and all the books were in German so the customer couldn't change the language settings. They weren't mentioned by name, but we all knew it was them because we've had complaints about this before with one of the local TMS locations. Not ...

Re: phone volume...?
May 6, 2007, 1:17 AM

If the speaker has a hiss it's probably a speaker issue which is covered by warranty as long as there's no physical or liquid damage that is causing it. Is the program something you download onto the phone itself? Most "branded" phones, meaning the say T-Mobile on the outside of the phone somewhere, won't let you access any 3rd party programs once they're on the phone or won't even let you download them at all. Nokias in general tend to have ...

TMO doesn't sell either of those unforunately. You can get them as unlocked devices and use them with our system however. We do sell the Dash and the Wing. The Wing is an end of May? release (that's the latest thing I heard, but don't quote me). They are both Windows Mobile 6.0 devices with most if not all of the abilities of the phones you are looking at. We also have multiple Blackberry devices but some people do not ...

Very long, but hopefully worth a glance....
May 6, 2007, 12:10 AM

Since no one has yet touched on this. T-Mobile gives our customers the option of M2M because if you don't know anyone who has TMO we're not going to make you pay for a feature you're not going to use unlike other carriers. That's one of the reasons our rate plans are so low. You may not want to go above a $50/month bill, but with that type of mindset you're not going to find the right rate plan and ...

This is a personal question but do you have any type of hearing issues that would require you to wear any type of hearing aide? If so some phone are designed to be used in conjunction with the hearing aide to improve the volume on the phone. If not, try using a Bluetooth headset with the phone. Some of the headsets we sell at the stores are designed with a little piece that sits in your ear instead rather than ...

Re: Question about sk id pricing on prepaid and plan
May 5, 2007, 7:55 AM

If you want it on prepaid you have to pay full price + the 100 act fee. Last time I checked they were not bringing it out for prepaid but any phone in the store can be prepaid, you're just going to pay through the nose for it. THe only ones not available for PP are the other data devices such as Dash, Mda, Sda, Blackberries, etc.

May 5, 2007, 7:51 AM

I agree. If they're running a background check think of it as step 2. Step 1 was applying and submitting your resume. Step 3 will be filling out an online test and step 4 is usually an in person interview. From there depending on the candidate they may hire you then or after a second interview with either your peers in the store or the regional of the area. You really can't blow it until you reach the interview ...

Why?
Apr 30, 2007, 9:54 PM
in the BlackBerry 8800 forum

As an RSR I really would like to know why this device is only available through Customer Care and not in my store where my business customers are climbing the walls for it? And why is it so expensive?! $470 for a 2-year upgrade? That thing better do my laundry and make me breakfast for that price! I hope the new MDA isn't anywhere near that price.

Based on the way phones have been being pulled from the floor and how quickly their replacements are coming out we'll probably see it right around the tentative date. The samsung 319 was pulled recently and within a week the samsung Stripe 329 was out.

Apr 13, 2007, 8:27 AM

That's true in Sales as well. Both in the individual stores as well as within entire markets. Mostly it's the old blood not getting along with the new blood. When I started a year ago the first three months I had 1 rep who constantly kept trying to steal my sales at corrections time. I stuck to my guns and they quickly learned that I'm not someone you can walk all over.
