Pros/Cons of working for T-Mobile?

Psy

I have a job interview coming up on Monday for a part time sales rep position & I was wondering if I could get opinions from those who are already employed by T-Mobile. I've worked in cellular for many years (also a GSM carrier) & really hope to make the switch to T-Mobile, but I'm just a tad apprehensive since I have been with my current company for so long. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Any company that gives it's part time employees (like me) full benefits is worth working for. T-Mobile is great to work for as a sales rep. They give you tons of ways to make commission on sales rather than just on the phone and rate plans you sell. So even if you don't make your quota you're still going to get comission on something.

Also there is always a contest going on with one of the phone manufactuers. One of the SRSR's in my store won a 50" flat screen from Samsung in the last Samsung contest.

They also listen to your suggestions. The higher up people know that we (sales reps) handle the lifeline of the company and want to know what they can do to help us help our customers better.

Now I'm not saying that it's all lollipops ...

I think another con is there are sometimes inconsistencies with how employees are treated in some areas but I wouldn't know if this is the case in Sales.

That's true in Sales as well. Both in the individual stores as well as within entire markets. Mostly it's the old blood not getting along with the new blood.

When I started a year ago the first three months I had 1 rep who constantly kept trying to steal my sales at corrections time. I stuck to my guns and they quickly learned that I'm not someone you can walk all over.

I don't know if this happened in Sales but in CC, FC, NCSQ, and a few others, our monthly scores were rounded down. If you got a 3.99, you were given a 3 for that month. A 4.99 was rounded to 4.0. They didn't do it this way the year before and they're not doing it this way in 2007. I understand they did it to save money on annual raises but they can forget about achieving their "Best Place to Work" goal as a result. No one I know is going to give high marks come ESS time in July.

Does this mean they want to hire me or do they do this with most applicants?

Background checks cost money so if they're running one on you, it's a good sign...unless you're a felon.

I agree. If they're running a background check think of it as step 2. Step 1 was applying and submitting your resume. Step 3 will be filling out an online test and step 4 is usually an in person interview. From there depending on the candidate they may hire you then or after a second interview with either your peers in the store or the regional of the area.

You really can't blow it until you reach the interview level. I've heard of people who've applied with amazing resumes an then interviewed so badly that they were tossed to the bottom of the pile. Especially with T-Mobile most managers are looking for someone who is friendly but can handle themselves with stupid customers who just come in to pick a fight. Right now the company is real...

I applied & submitted a resume. Then I filled out an online test. Then I had an interview. Now I'm in background.
