Re: Anyway to autolock the keypad/wheel after X time of no use?

Thanks for the response... I guess I figured out the manual part but didn't specify. I would just like to have it lock without a password, but so far I haven't had too much issue with it typing accidentally. Appreciate it!

Get rid of main screen icons
Nov 30, 2006, 4:00 PM

Just one more question - do we know how to take icons off of the front screen? I could do this easily with my last Blackberry but can't find it here on the 8703e. thanks!

Light screen when call comes in?
Nov 30, 2006, 2:40 PM
in the BlackBerry 8703e forum

I have only had the 8703e for a couple of days now. I have checked the forum and don't think this has been mentioned yet - apologies if it has! I'm wondering if any of you know how to set the phone so that the screen lights up - and I can see who's calling - when it rings? Thanks!

When I do this Audacity stunt, the song I want comes out really really really fast..... can't get it to sound like the actual song for a second in order to edit it. The rest of the process works fine, but it sounds like a blip.

Never tried it, but I know that on other Samsungs you have to actually hold down the speakerphone button to answer. Maybe hold it down for a few secs?

I've had it since maybe December and LOVE it! it's excellent quality in every way.... I'm a girl, so the size bugs me a bit and I want to find something smaller with Bluetooth, but I deeeefinitely like this better than the Razr (which I had for a week). I'm jealous of the new low price! But they're getting phones off the shelves to make way for upcoming things... so keep that in mind.

reception is awesome
May 16, 2006, 8:55 AM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

Oh, to add.... the reception on mine is incredible! I have more bars underground than ever on my a970. I wouldn't say I've been talking on it long enough to know about any dropping of calls, but I'm definitely impressed by the bars!

I have it.... I have been reserving judgement, but I did mention before that my earpiece is also mumbled. Pretty badly, and I'm planning on returning it, but before I go back to Best Buy to exchange it, I'm trying to decide if I want the phone at all. The one thing I struggle with beyond the mumbled earpiece is the rattle cheap feeling when you close it. My hubby says it's the spring they added, but to ...

Okay, so I know this came up in the Verizon forum before the a930-specific forum, but I got my phone today and kinda think the quality is muffled as well. It seems that I could try again at Best Buy and be fine, but I'm wondering if it's just in my head. Wish I could get back on my old phone once more and double-check. Anyone else noticing this? Other than that, I really love the phone so far! Has ...

Re: more about "mid-range"
May 12, 2006, 12:37 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A930 forum

I'm actually really happy with it being mid-range. I just got the a970 a few months ago and felt it was way too much... I don't need music and video, for one, but it seems lately like I'm the only one who feels that way. This feels like an incredible phone, love the look (though black will take getting used to), love the lower-budget front display.... and yeah, Bluetooth and such are just becoming more standard. I'll ...

buying it ASAP before tested out?

Re: Preferred camera settings
Jan 3, 2006, 11:50 AM
in the Samsung SCH-A970 forum

I've had it about two weeks now, through MUCH holiday chatter, and I really totally love it. It does everything I need and want. It's not the thinnest, tiny phone like I usually strive for, but it rings, vibrates, great alarm, great camera, great reception, great menu features (even though it's Verizon UI), perfect Bluetooth.... I feel like I can depend on it. I'll never use MP3 or video, but it doesn't take up as much space and ...

I'll bump this up... I think I'm doing okay with my current settings. I made it one notch brighter and set the autofocus and flash always on. Any other tips would be great! I loooove this phone :)

Re: Samsung a970 vs Motorola Razr V3c
Dec 23, 2005, 10:37 AM
in the Samsung SCH-A970 forum

I just returned the Razr for the a970 and am sooooo happy. It totally depends on what you want though. The Razr is very thin, but a huge keypad - just so wide of a phone that it takes away from the general sleek idea. It also doesn't have a lot of customizing ability in the menu, whereas the Samsung does. I can now tailor all my little preferences for myself and am so happy with ...

Did you turn the backlight on all the time? That's what I tried today, but this is my first day with the phone. I'm hoping it stays on through a call....

Dec 21, 2005, 1:30 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

I'll second that. I actually have the Razr right now, but still can return it through Jan. 15th (their holiday deal).... I don't love it and don't want to be stuck with it for two years, but if it takes a year for something good to come out (no MP3 and would prefer no video, even though I'll be out of luck).... then whatever.

Dec 19, 2005, 12:42 PM

I'd really like to be able to look at the call details when I'm on the phone, but it just goes dark..... I'd also like for the buttons to stay lit up, but I'm apalled at the battery life already. Probably taking the phone back...

Yeah, red is a great stark logo color - not arguing that. But on every screenshot of your cell phone, it's annoying a lot of people....

Re: The primary and sole purpose of a cell phone!!!!!!!
Dec 14, 2005, 10:46 AM
in the Motorola RAZR V3c forum

I don't get your train of thought.... You say "interfaces, crippled bluetooth, whether the phone rings and or vibrates at the same time, etc." None of that has to do with video, MP3, camera, or any other features that I also agree are unnecessary in a phone. But to use the interface, bluetooth, and vibrate features are all essential PHONE features. The interface needs to be easy to use to make a call... the Bluetooth is becoming necessary in ...

Re: Razor software update
Dec 14, 2005, 10:37 AM

Is there any difference in getting the upgrade versus those folks who purchase the phone after the upgrade? It's really just the same thing, right? I'm asking because I have (as we probably all do with Verizon) until January 15th to return the phone.... Have never done a software upgrade before, so thanks!

On the same topic - KEYPAD
Dec 14, 2005, 10:33 AM
in the Motorola RAZR V3c forum

Mine is not loose, just to answer that question. Sorry to say that maybe you should exchange for another one? On the same topic: Is there ANY way to change the settings so that the Keypad lights are always on? When I'm in the dark, I need to be able to continue to use the buttons for commands like in voicemail, and I really liked how my last button had options for the kaypad in the settings menu.... THANKS!

I'm currently in the free month trial as well.... the only thing that might sway me to keep it is that the text messaging is included (unlimited), which alone is a $5 cost per month (but limited). I can also check my Yahoo mail on VCast.... but don't see why anyone would be interested in the rest of the VCast features....

Yeah.... and it's bugging me a bit that so many posters are saying that Motorola shouldn't have changed the interface - it's a whole Verizon thing and it's going to happen with any Verizon phone you pick up nowadays. It's horrible.... who thinks that RED is a universal color?

Well, I swapped back yesterday.... For the record, I was wrong - I have the 4600. Definitely an awesome phone, minus the bells and whistles. I think I may be ready for a camera, which I purposefully didn't get on the 4600, but I really don't get why companies are expecting you to carry around the heavy real estate of MP3 and video. It's a PHONE. I know some people are looking for anything ...

I might switch back and wait...
Nov 30, 2005, 11:10 AM
in the LG VX-8100 forum

I've been reading lots of comments about several Verizon phones, and I'm having the toughest time deciding what I want to do. I switched from the LG 6100 (which was a cool internet-only phone and I love it) to the LG 8100 earlier this week. I gotta tell ya.... it's just a super bulky and unattractive phone in my mind. Whatever I choose, I'm going to be stuck with for two years... Do I really ...
