HD Calling?
The picture of the lock screen says the phone was on AT&T. And on the other side next to the signal indication it has an HD calling icon.
I didn't think non AT&T branded phones would work with AT&T features such as their HD calling?
Android version
So I guess that means the Android version Alcatel sells directly will work just fine on TMO.
Still not diggn' it
So for $95-100/month you get 256MB of international roaming??? And you have to toggle Binge On...I mean HD video 'on' ??
Uncarrier...for every pain point we fix, we'll create more.
Might as well just get their current unlimited plan for $95.

Would a Verizon iPhone trigger a price war?

Rumors of the iPhone coming to Verizon Wireless may have some consumers in the U.S. wondering about resulting cost savings for the device. But will more competition really mean lower prices?
Six months after the iPhone market opened up in the United Kingdom for the iPhone, prices have only dipped slightly. But compared to prices from AT&T, the iPhone's exclusive carrier in the U.S., Brits are still getting a much better deal than ...

Benefits of a Verizon iPhone for AT&T Customers
The rumor...again...is that Apple is working on developing a CDMA version of the iPhone and plans to begin distributing the popular smartphone through Verizon in the near future, ending its exclusivity arrangement with AT&T. The move could benefit Apple and Verizon, but will also be an advantage for existing AT&T customers.
Analysts have been predicting that Apple could dramatically increase iPhone sales by ending exclusivity. Of course, that conclusion doesn't take any extra-sensory perception to arrive at. If you have ...
Sure hope Verizon get's an iPhone.
"That same attrition, or churn, will actually start to improve quality on the AT&T network. For example, Sprint service right now is fantastic in many areas; they have lost 5-10 million users," said Gould.

SCARY! AT&T 911 cell phone calls in Salt Lake City restored; probe underway
I don't want to bash ATT but I think all carriers should be fined heavily for mistakes like this, in hopes they NEVER happen.
AT&T cell phone service calls to 911 have been restored and were routing normally by Friday morning, the Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed.
AT&T spokeswoman Brooke Burgess said her company "has launched a thorough investigation" to determine what caused the glitche, which began Thursday afternoon and extended well into the evening.
"Our first priority was to restore ...

Visual Voicemail?
How much is TMO's Visual Voicemail? I just went through their website and it said 'FREE'. 8O
I thought everyone else charged a couple bucks a month for visual voicemail?
Is this right TMO gives you free visual voicemail?

Hi. I ordered a LG Expo from amazon and was given the delivery date of 03-16. I checked with the UPS tracking system constantly and was eagerly awaiting my phone since 5am that morning. At 10pm on the 16th a new update came up informing me that the it shipped from NC after it was supposedly out-for-delivery from 5am that morning.

They both have unlimited plans, Sprint has more coverage due to roaming, depends what your looking for.
Re: So ATT employees: Is anybody buying the NON-Google retarded Motorola Backflip?
The strength of an open platform is the flexibility it offers to companies, developers and consumers. That openness is a factor in the rapid growth of the Android platform in the smartphone world. Companies can customize the interface, such as HTC with Sense, and consumers can install any Android apps they desire in order to personalize the user experience. AT&T has just entered the Android space with the Backflip by Motorola, but as new owners are pointing out, the ...
Re: So ATT employees: Is anybody buying the NON-Google retarded Motorola Backflip?
ATT has proven they can't be trusted with Android phones.
True, so why would Google sell a phone without ATT's approval?
Obviously ATT's still want's some control over whats on the device. Where as TMO didn't care and who knows if VZW's version of the Nexus One will be sold by Google untouched by VZW.
Bold 9700 UMA Issues
Anyone having UMA issues with their Bold 9700? :?
Per a internet search there seems to have been some issues, which some people think were related to routers being set to 'mixed'.
But I'm just wondering if the issue was fixed or if it was just isolated to a small group?
Thanks

Re: I have a ? about virtual keyboards
Thanks for your input. Even though I currently lack a lot of practical experience with virtual keyboards, I think I will favor landscape over portrait for typing.
I used to think the same thing. But let's put it this way, landscape=2 hands where as portrait =1 hand messaging.
Re: Android packing HTC Desire is heading to ATT
Have you tried any of the virtual keyboards on any of the current Android devices?
You may pick it up fairly easily, I think physical keyboards are going away.

BB Bold 9700 question
I don't get it?
Phonescoop's spec page for the Bold 9700 says there are two versions of the 9700 for 3G bands.
https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/pho ne.php?p=2431
But RIM's web site lists all 3G bands.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/ blackberrybold9700/bold_specifications.jsp
S o are there two versions of this BB, one with US T-mobile 3G bands and one with UK 3G bands?
Or is there just one with all those 3G bands on board? :?
Re: You're Not Ready Jay!
Thus far the only Moto that I know for sure ATT is getting is the dorky backflip, which doesn't appeal to me.
I agree, I mean it looks as if the whole keyboard is showing if you use the phone by holding it up to your ear. :?

I am so, so, so ready to upgrade. But I'm afraid of too many stupid all touch devices. I want me a damn smartphone with a physical keyboard!!! I want Android *now*! ! !
As with VZW I'm sure it's hard for a carrier to realize there about to offer a phone without their bloat-ware.
Re: Bold 9000 to Bold 9700
P.S. Am I the only one who feels that the 9700 feels cheaply made?
I got that feeling as well. But I guess we'll see, the CDMA version is coming to VZW soon.
But defiantly feels cheaper than the original BB Bold.

AT&T's IPhone Exclusivity May Be Renewed
Credit Suisse
OUR ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THAT Apple (ticker: AAPL) will eventually sell the iPhone at all carriers; however, there is a much greater probability that AT&T (T) keeps exclusivity for another 12 to 18 months than investors realize. We think this has profound impacts for Apple, the carriers and the other handset original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
We see four possible scenarios in 2010: 1) AT&T's existing exclusivity agreement does not expire; 2) it expires but Apple/AT&T renew for another year; 3) ...
Re: Thank you FCC...NOT!!!
Comcast partnering with tmo, and I would NOT put it past Google to put a stake in this either.
Oh great, if Communistcast bought TMO prices would most defiantly go up.
And as we've seen with the Nexus One, Google has great customer service.
But if TMO started gobbling up smaller carriers to increase it's footprint, that might work.
