AT&T cell phone service calls to 911 have been restored and were routing normally by Friday morning, the Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed.
AT&T spokeswoman Brooke Burgess said her company "has launched a thorough investigation" to determine what caused the glitche, which began Thursday afternoon and extended well into the evening.
"Our first priority was to restore the service, and the situation was resolved about 11:30 p.m. Thursday," she said.
Salt Lake City police reported the glitch Thursday when AT&T customers complained their calls to 911 locally were being re-routed to Seattle.
