AT&T issues with canceling phone from Amazon.

Hi. I ordered a LG Expo from amazon and was given the delivery date of 03-16. I checked with the UPS tracking system constantly and was eagerly awaiting my phone since 5am that morning. At 10pm on the 16th a new update came up informing me that the it shipped from NC after it was supposedly out-for-delivery from 5am that morning.

I'm giving them one more shot. I've spoken with both Amazon and UPS reps and they both assured me that I would get my phone on the 18th. If the phone does not come in I will cancel the order with Amazon.

Amazon says that I have to cancel AT&T service with AT&T. Am I going to get charged any kind of cancellation fee? Amazon's return policies sort of implied that I might be held to some penalty which AT&T may h...

I'm a bit confused; do you have a 2-year plan already? were you doing an upgrade or starting a new line?

Because with any phone (minus the iphone) you have 30 days to try out the phone and either exchange it for a new one, or cancel your service altogether. the only thing you would pay is proration charges for the duration of the month that you used it. of course, you havent even used the phone, so you shouldnt have any charges.

next time, go to a store or the at&t website for your phones. at least at&t can track those things for you.

at&t should be able to cancel the service. Look at the terms you agreed to on amazon.com to see if you will be dinged with any secondary termination fees from the amazon contract. Ususally there will be a trial period where you can cancel your service/order without any penalties.

My advice is save your self the headache in the future and order from www.wireless.att.com or go get it at a store. You might spend more, but atleast you now what you are getting.

So you are asking if and/or why buying from a cheap source with no backbone system of stores to help with issues and has a history that encourages you to go to sources other than the place of purchase so you can save a few bucks has problems with follow up?

Is that what you are asking?

Make sure the rep who is doing your contacts transfer where you DIDNT buy your phone hears that question as well.

Good luck and glad you saved some money.

I like that question. I'd like to be able to ask that to my customers. I'm sure it wouldn't fly with ATT, but maybe on my last day...LOL

so you're saying by going to an att core store or authorized rep. there will be no issues? i wish that was true. i have bought at both and both have screwed things up. what's wrong with trying to save a buck, especially in todays economy. give them a break. they probably have not been on this site very long and know the issues others have with on-line retailers. i agree with the fact that they will usually screw things up but the core stores and authorized retailers do too at times. people ask for advice here and everyone gives them grief now. this site has changed for the worst. and it's not getting any better..

well maybe i was wrong, they have been a member here for a while. still blasting them for trying to save a buck, is really low-class. they just asked for advice and some of you fellow members started crapping on them. maybe you could get them a better deal?(tex) and make sure their item is shipped on time. 🙄

They can't screw up your delivery date because you walk out with the product.

And I don't agree with the saving money part. Every day people de-value their time. That same person will be the one who can't live for a day without their phone for a warranty exchange.

"They can't screw up your delivery date because you walk out with the product."

Agreed...

well, i know you're a business owner, and i am sure if you could save a buck, you would jump at the opportunity. maybe showing a little compassion and helping a fellow phonescooper wouldn't hurt.

i just get frustrated coming here and seeing folks get blasted for not going to a store. they can just as easily mess things up. i used the advice here and avoided on-line retailers, and still got burned, or i should say things got a little screwed up. what happened to customer service 🤣 i think the word does not exist anymore.

Newsflash Buddy. If you come on a site whining about the customer service your cheap rear end is getting by buying online and you do it on a website crawling with store reps that this is a sore spot for then yes you're gonna get crap for it.

Does a port HAVE to be done through Amz? Can't a # be ported by either calling the carrier customer service or by going to a local store?

If you had gone to a store for your phone, you wouldn't have had a problem in the first place.
