VZW-Alltel merger and the state of our economy...

I'm no economist, so anyone out there with more book-learnin' in that respect can feel free to chime in, but I look at the major financial meltdowns that have occurred in the last 10 days and it seems to me like it's only going to make the merger run faster.

For those of you who don't follow the financial news very much, the collapse of household namse like fannie Mae, Freddie mac, Merrill, Lynch, AIG, and Lehamn brothers is huge.

HUGE. HUGE. HUGE!!!

This is pretty much the equivalent of waking up one morning to find that AT&T and Microsoft have both gone belly-up.

What this means is that bad, bad things are happening to investment bankers and private equity firms. it just so happens that Alltel is completely owned by one of the...

Any news on Samsung i770 and Treo 800w for Verizon?

I am looking for a windows mobile smartphone and am stuck with verizon. Their selection is pretty slim at the minute. Two local stores have NO Samsung i760's and have been told not to sell them. No old Treo's were offered, only the centro. Can I assume the release of the Samsung i770 and Treo 800w are imminent?

Touch Pro and Touch S740?

I'm all but giving up on the Xperia because this is just getting ridiculous. Now I'm turning my attention to phones that are ACTUALLY COMING OUT!!! That being said, I'm with AT&T and am hoping they will carry either the HTC Touch Pro or S740. Does anyone know the latest regarding those phones? They're really exactly what I'm looking for, so any insight would be hugely helpful. Thanks in advance for the replies!

AT&T BUYING SPRINT/NEXTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!

In response to Verizon's acquistion of Alltel, at&t is poised to take over Sprint/Nextel to regain the top spot in mobile subscribers. AT&T plans on switching out all Nextel phones with their own Push-to-Talk phones and auctioning off the IDEN network. Boost Mobile will likely not be a part of the deal and may take ownership of the IDEN network to become a seperate entity. This information was passed on confidentially and you guys are the first to hear about it!

Alltel and VZW Agents, What is in it for us Alltel Agents Merging In?

This thread is for Alltel and Verizon owners, Indirects, Agents and Employee's only.

What is in it for us Alltel Agents Merging Into Verizon, When this happens?

Or, What is in it for VZW? What will they take from Alltel and Implement into VZW?

Although, somethings may be speculation, hopefuly you have good sources and news to help us all. I think that this transition will be great for all of us.

Saying we don't get forced by FCC into buyout from another carrier so we don't create a Monopoly.

Sprint Airave - Let me clear this up!!

To answer your question, no it will not work anywhere but the United States. It has nothing to do with the GPS locating where you are that is strictly set up for E911 purposes. It also has nothing to do with whether or not there is a CDMA network where you are located because this pulls Sprint's CDMA signal through the internet and creates it's own.

The reason it will not work anywhere but the U.S. is simple. If you take your Airave to the U.K. (or anywhere else outside of the U.S.) and try to use it, the device will pull Sprint's signal through the Internet. Once you try to place a call through the device, it has to access a LAN (Local Area Network) to place a call. Because Sprint does not have access agreements with anyone overse...

Leaked Google Phone specs

More G1 Specs Than You Can Shake a Stick At! UPDATE
Written by AndroidGuys • Aug 26th, 2008 • Category: Google News, Hardware News, Recent News

It seems our post on the design drawings has opened up a flood of interest in our site and with that, new tipsters. We’ve been pulling in emails this morning claiming to have more on the guts of the handset. Obviously, some of this is already out there, but we think we’ve uncovered some gems that haven’t been discussed yet. Without doing “what’s already known” bullet point, let’s get down to what we’re been told.

First off, that “chin” that’s got everyone talking is allegedly called a “kicktail” and the slid...

Samsung (Anycall) Haptic (SCH-W420)

Anyone hear about this phone? This apparently just came out in Korea earlier this year and seems to be their answer to the iPhone (not its killer).

This phone is NOT to be confused with the Samsung Instinct.

I'm looking for a way to use this phone in the US on Verizon Wireless because AT&T is subpar in California (on average) in service.

I'm not such a big fan of the iPhone due to the fact that it's so goddman huge amidst its sleek and sexy features. The SCH-W420, or Haptic, is Samsung's slimmer and more intuitive answer to the iPhone.

If I can get this phone to work on Verizon Wireless, I think I won't have to purchase another phone for a very very long time... and I'm one of those guys who haplessly renews phones year after...

Alltel buying Alltel

Just heard from a really reliable source that Alltel is actually buying itself. With some new calculations Alltel scientists actually came up with the idea of buying themselves for 3 billion dollars and investing that money into a new network called SLOTH. It is referred to as a -4G (negative 4) as it completely slows down the internet speed so the elderly have a chance to see what is loading on the screen.

Sprint Sells Towers........Great Business!!!!

So I've seen a lot of people giving Sprint flack about selling off it's towers and I just wanted to put my 2 cents in about it. So let me get this straight?! You have a pool in your backyard and it's costing you time and money to clean and maintain just so that you and your family and friends can use it. You only really wanted the pool in the first place so that everyone could enjoy it, but between your job, your family, and other things you have to do around the house it's just sucking the life out of you, and it's costing you $1000 a month to maintain (not including the time you spend maintaining it). So a pool company comes along and says "hey sell us the pool (in your own backyard) for $30,000, you get unlimited access to it as long ...
