picture id

Since the outside display only has 4000 colors, i was wondering about the external picture id. I haven't heard any discussion about that. Could anyone tell me what the quality of picture looks like when you get a call?
Also, I have a family plan, and my other phone is going to be upgraded to the samsung p207 I think, any thoughts on which is better?

Thanx for your help

Here is how you can fix it. Go to:

Has anyone bought this phone from Best Buy???

It's free with a 2-year contract agreement at Best Buy. I talked to a girl @ BB the other day to confirm whether they had the phone (they did) and whether or not I could do my migration @ BB. She said that they did do migrations (ATT->Cing)...but she also wasn't convincing to me that she knew what she was talking about.

My questions to anyone who has bought their phone @ BB:
Can I do my migration there? (I still have ATT TDMA until I buy this phone).
Is it a pain in the arse to do it there? Are there any drawbacks to doing it @ BB and buying the phone there rather than from a Cing. store?

Thanks in advance!

new firmware already?

I don't know a lot about cell phones or firmware, but is it possible that some people already have newer versions than others?

Some people complain about low volume, some don't. Some say that the menus are slow, some don't. (These are both important factors in determining if I'll get the phone or not).

I went to a local Cingular store and just briefly messed around with a 6102. The volume seemed fine (it was very quiet in the store at the time though), but the menus seemed a bit sluggish & slow to respond.

I wish I knew if there were newer firmware versions available and I'd just buy the phone with the newest one.

I got the 6102, I love it...But i got a question?

Well i've ordered a CA-42 cable from ebay, got it for like 12$, not too shabby. But i got a question, when i use the nokia PC suite, is it for transferring mp3's to the phone? or other types of audio such as midi or others? I wasnt sure because i had seen where some people had said the pc suite wont transfer MP3's

I only want people to tell me if they are SURE, not if they "think" so...

thanks in advance.

Keypad Lock

Just got the 6101 from T-Mobile. I noticed that the Keypad lock (pressing "Menu" than "*") does not affect the camera button on the right hand side. I've accidentally activated the camera a few times, even though the keypad was locked (all other buttons were indeed locked). Anyone else encounter this, or is my phone a lemon?

How is the fm reception?

I am considering buying two of these phones for my wife and I. My wife thinks it would be great to use the phone as a walkman while she runs, does anyone have any experience with the reception and quality of sound from the radio?

Cleaning and Protection

***All, I apologize in advance that this is a repeat post from another forum. Just need to get some quick responses before Saturday.***

With all of my energy focused on picking a phone and carrier I have not had much time to think about protecting and cleaning my new acquisition. A a few questions...

1. Would anyone recommend buying any type of additional warranty coverage on the phone that may be offered by the carrier I choose or are these mainly scams to get additional $$$?

2. What is the best and safest (most important) way to clean cell phones? (I'll admit to being a neat freak and seeing fingerprints will annoy me to no end)

6101 appears to be fragile

The 6101 appears to me to be a fragile phone.

The first prepay Nokia 6101 I bought from Target, the case broke within the first 15 minutes. I believe some assembly clip broke. It was not dropped, just opened and closed about 20 times.

The second Nokia I got, both displays started to invert and blink white after about 30 minutes of testing the phone. Rebooting did not help. Seemed to be a problem with the flex circuit.

The third 6101 sits unopened, waiting for a good reason to keep it. FM radio worked fine, ear piece volume was ok, not loud, camera was only fair. People said that the phone sounded good. Phone received clarity was just ok. I liked the phone, but this reliability sucks so far.

I have had a Verizon LG VX4400...

nokia 6102 sim card

Does anyone know if the nokia 6102 has a sim card. This phone seems to have everything that i would want, even though it doesn't look as if it is the newest phone to ever hit the market. And is the headset worth the money for the FM radio, and can that be used as a way to talk to other people?

Overwriting SMS Messages allowed?

In my 6230, I can choose to automatically overwrite old SMS messages as new ones come in so that my Inbox doesn't fill up. (Menu--> Messages--> Message Settings--->Text Messages--->Overwriting in Inbox (allowed or disallowed as you choose)). I can't find anything similar in the 6102--- problem is my Inbox fills up and then I don't get my new text messages. Any suggestions?

6101: Domestic vs. European Version

Can someone here please help me by explaining the GSM bands this phone operates on and if there are truly a Domestic and European Version?

I am trying to purchase an unlocked version via eBay. Some auctions describe the 6101 as a World Phone stating that it can switch between GSM 850/1800/1900 and 900/1800/1900 (not sure about this claim...); other auctions only describe it as running on the GSM 850/1800/1900 bands.

Really want to be able to use this phone overseas thus my preference for the European version---if a European version truly exists. If I do manage to get my hands on a European version of the 6101 will I definitely be able to use it in the U.S.?
