Has anyone bought this phone from Best Buy???

It's free with a 2-year contract agreement at Best Buy. I talked to a girl @ BB the other day to confirm whether they had the phone (they did) and whether or not I could do my migration @ BB. She said that they did do migrations (ATT->Cing)...but she also wasn't convincing to me that she knew what she was talking about.

My questions to anyone who has bought their phone @ BB:
Can I do my migration there? (I still have ATT TDMA until I buy this phone).
Is it a pain in the arse to do it there? Are there any drawbacks to doing it @ BB and buying the phone there rather than from a Cing. store?

Thanks in advance!

I really wish others would respond to this thread, thanks for asking it!

I am also waiting on this phone which is supposed to be at Best Buy tonite - new shipment. I have waited and waited for the Cingular store to get them and while I know its not the reps fault, I have been waiting months and am tired of waiting. Evrey week they think its coming, and obviously it hasn't. Plus its free at Best Buy. My sister has bought other phones from there and has been pleased. She does recommend the insurance from them though just in case you have trouble later.

So if Best Buy gets it tonite unless I hear something seriously wrong with that, I plan to get it in the next 24 hours.

I would appreciate any positive or negative thoughts on ...

The Best Buy "warranty" (what you're calling insurance) is a COMPLETE RIP-OFF!! Save your $. If the phone has a problem within the factory warranty period it's covered any way!!

Never pay for those rip off "extended warrantees" that are shoved down your throat all the time at Best Buy!!

The insurance I was talking about was the Lockline offered for Cingular phones and purchased with the phone by Best Buy, NOT a Best Buy warranty.

I live in Michigan and I called the best buy store in my area about a month ago because I also migrated from att to Cing. I thought I might be technically considered a "new customer" and be able to get the great deals that new customers get but they informed me that they DO NOT handle migrations and I would have to go to a Cingular store. Former ATT customers aren't considered "new" customers to Cingular anywhere as far as I know.

Anyway, I'm glad I dealt directly with the cingular store b/c there is no middle man to EFF things up.

I was a former ATT customer and was able to migrate at Best Buy at no cost - no hassle. It was just fine. And I am STILL waiting on the 6102 promised by Cingular thru the local store. Its been almost a month and they still cannot get me one. I am glad I did not wait for the store, no offense to the store reps, but I could NOT wait, my other phone was near dead.

I did. First one I got was a dud! 😡 (not BBs fault) . Major problems with the screen and the refreshing of the screen. Took it back and Best Buy promptly exchanged it for me. This one has been fine.
