Problems went away for some reason

I have had the phone since it first came out from Cingular and have had the typical issues (call log, sim contacts).

Since getting the new Kingston 1gb card (approx, not sure it coincided exactly with this), I haven't had these issues. It's been almost 2 weeks now!

Strange...I'm not complaining and I hope I didn't just jinx myself ;)

It's Back . . . . . . .

Just checked the CINGULAR website two minutes ago.

THE 6682 IS NOW (RE)LISTED & AVAILABLE!! What a great way to start 2006.

Let's hope the firmware updates and improvements will deliver the quality Nokia product we fully anticipated!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE.

1-touch dialing

Hello,
It's my first day with the 6682. So far so good except for 1-touch dialing. Is it limited to only eight additional numbers? What if I want to have 25 speed dials? Is it possible? Please help me out here.
Thank you,

Included accessories??

I am still considering this phone (not sure I want to wait for the next batch of coolness). Anyway, on cingular's webstite it says that all you get with the phone is a charger and a battery. I believe when it was available before Cingular was shipping the phone with a 64mb memory card.

So my question is to those of you who have received a phone from the new batch...what else do you get besides the phone?

A fix that worked for my 6682 issues

I've been experiencing the standard issues that are complained about for a 6682.

Primarily the problems that affected my unit were:
1. Call logs lost after power off/on
2. Constant requests to copy contacts from SIM
3. General slowness in navigating the menus

The these issues appear to be corrected on my phone after resetting the unit to factory defaults.

To do this navigate to:
Menu-> Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> General -> Orig. Phone Settings
Enter Lock code: 12345 and confirm

You won't lose any data (i.e. contacts, calendar entries, etc.) as a result of the reset, just your customized settings.

Other info:
I bought this phone as soon as it was released.
Firmware 3.01.1 from 18-06-05 RM-58 on a Nokia 6682.

Hope ...

how can i listen to mp3s on this phone in my car?

i know there is a new audio adapter and also ones like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/FD1-NOKIA-N70-7210-6682- 6681-3230i-3-5mm-Audio-Adapter_W0QQitemZ58459 93232QQcategoryZ43272QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

but is there an adapter that will broadcast to my FM stereo (like similar ipod accesories) or do i need to get an audio adapter and then plug into the cassette deck?? (my car is a 2000 model so no mp3 player hookup in the factory stereo!)

just wondering what everyone else does... if they do this....

Bought one from Cingular today

I have a premier business account, and bought one over the phone today, it was not on the website, and it was not available over the phone from the regular cingular sales reps. Even on the business line it took them a while to find it. They said it just hit their warehouses. I hope that it is a new version and not the old one that was left sitting in the warehouse. How can I tell?

question about mp3 playback / calls

*still waiting to get my phone*! should be here soon... got a question

when using the mp3 player, is there any way to suppress the phone function, so that calls are automatically sent to voicemail (blocked) and my mp3 play isn't interrupted? or does it just light up and tell you there's a call?

cheers

Nokia 6682 problems... HELP!!!

I just bought a new Nokia 6682 last week from EBAY and so far most of the call log issues and "do you wish to copy to contacts" things are non-existant....HOWEVER.... I charged my phone for the first time last night and after 11 hours on the charger it was still showing charging....when I pulled the plug from it, it still showed 1 bar of battery life.... I took out the battery, put it back in and turned on.....now it shows full bars.... Any ideas? Phone glitch or charging problem???? Thanks for any help in advance!!!!

Not able to buy from Amazon

Hi,
I tried to buy Nokia 6682 from Amazon. After adding to shopping cart, it says price as $369. I should get for $249(before rebate). I was told to add plan to get to $249 price. However, after adding plan, I see blank page.

I am wondering if there is any other place to buy this phone. It is expensive at letustalk.com and they include tax for texas& California.

Thanks,
Sukumar

What are the exact differences between the old firmware and new firmware?

I purchased a 6682 two months ago from cingular and have had the same problems everybody else seems to be having. I then got a new 3G simcard and have not experienced those problems since. I'm not sure that's an answer or if those problems will return at any point. I'm just wondering what are all the exact differences between my firmware V3.01.1 and the new V4.6.2. Are there any major changes? Is it worth exchanging one with cingular. Will they even do that? I would appreciate if anyone can help answer these questions.

how do you transfer your files?

was just wondering...how you guys transfer your files... mp3's etc to your phone's mmc card? do you put your card in a reader attached to your computer, or do you use the usb cable? when you connect via usb, does it show up as a drive that you can drag and drop into?? thanks everyone

Question.....

I'm currently a verizon subscriber, but most of my friends have cingular. For the most part, every knows that verizon's phones suck, but there coverage is the best. Then from there, everyone has a different opinion. I have narrowed my search to either switch to Cingular or stay with Verizon. I've heard many complaints about Cingular, which includes the reception being so-so. I just wanted to know, with the Nokia 6682 (which everyone says has great reception), is the coverage actually pretty good with Cingular or is it just a little better then so-so?? Any and all opinions are greatly appriciated... Thanks...

Alas, gone for Good. . . at least from Cingular.

So I went to check on the availability of these for ordering this morning. . . and they're gone. I checked the purchase order system, for both retail stores & direct shipping depts. . . Nope, 6682 is gone from Cingular. Alas, only in a retail store or from Nokia now, which, I suppose is a good thing. Still, I was somewhat hoping to score one for myself, not to mention helping out those that really wanted one. Damn .... oh well, there's always the 6282.

as normal nokia 6682 problems/ need correct advice

Okay bare with me my first forum and it could be long!

I seem to be having the typical same problems that some people are having:

call log erased if phone is turned off
keys locking up
my memory card erased everything i had on it for no reason phone just sitting there.
etc. etc.
copy contacts to sim

problem is i like the phone and want it to work. I called Cingular warranty and of course they are out and claim they are unaware of any problem. Called Nokia who also said they are unaware of any problem (phone is discontinued and why?) and said I could send in for "repair". Is there such thing as repair? I have read many forums where phone has been sent in or get a new sim but someone surely knows the correct fix to this problem! P...

Anyone had their phone repaired at Nokia?????

I'm wondering if anyone has sent their phone in to Nokia for repair, and what was the outcome???

I've recently been alerted to what "Cingular" is calling an issue with the 64k Sim card. One of the manufacturers has had a bad batch, which is supposed to cause phones to behave "irregularly". I myself have doubts as to it being the SIM itself, I'm thinking it's more along the lines of firmware/hardware of the phone.

I've used the same 64k Sim in many of my older phones, and have not had any issues with them, that being said, the only thing that is different is the 6682. Basic troubleshooting would point to the common element, the phone, as the sim has been used in other phones, without issue.....but then again, "I could be wrong" 😉 ...
