Nokia 6682 / 6681

does anyone know if there is any difference between this phone on nokias website compared to the cingular version. stupid question, but some nokias are different. even the smallest feature. unfortunately my phone has been sitting on my desk for the last month and a half since i can't unlock. so i'm just gonna sell it and buy it from nokia directly.

Forgive the question if it's dumb, but got my phone secondhand and not sure all apps are on it. Does it have this app as its default media file player or can it be downloaded? Seems like I've read about something called Ogg Vorbis format that some are using to play MP3's?

I just had a weird issue with the phone that I am hoping someone can help me with (or make me feel better about the phone.) For some reason the phone started misbehaving when I placed calls by giving me no audio while dialing and no sound once connected, either in my ear or transmitted to the other end of the call.

At first I just thought I wasn't able to get through on the network, but then I dialed my home number and it rang just fine. I couldn't hear the ringing in the phone, however, so I thought it wasn't getting any signal (despite a lot of bars.)

When I answered the home phone, it sounded dead on either end of the line. I couldn't hear the home phone through the Nokia speaker, and the home phone couldn't hear me.

Stopped at my local Cingular Store on Wednesday and they confirmed the 6682 will (should) return to inventory mid-December. 🙂

Browsing the inventory system this AM & noticed that we have the phone available again. . . but in VERY small numbers and only for the direct order systems (the retail stores have a different inventory, so these would only be ). I have no idea if these are the phones that have the 'improved' Cingular software or not, but they're there. I have a friend with one on the way, so I'll know very soon how disasterous/wonderful the software is.

Maybe I won't be getting a 9300 after all. . .

I have been at cingular website and stores, they dont have the phone no more. The rep told me the phone have been discontinued? I heard it locks up! True or False?

2 days ago I dropped my 6682 in a bucket of water. Although it seems to be working fine now, I can't pick up any bars. I thought maybe I ruined the sim card, but when I moved it to my old phone, it worked fine. I'm thinking that maybe I need to reset something on the phone, but I'm not sure and don't know how. I've only had it a month and I love it. Someone help please!!!!

i have noticed something.

when i turn off the phone, i lose all the call logs.

do you also have the same thing?

Doesn't anyone make a case for this phone that protects the screen, but leaves the keypad open? Something like the silicon sleeves or the krussel case but with clear protection for just the screen.

So...I'm having a hell of a time with this phone. Aside from the known issues, i.e. - copy contacts, too many apps open, etc. I've been having these issues:

When using Opera browser, I alays get a Memory Low error and it won't load any pages. Is there any way to prevent this? Does v8.5 do this???.

Then, starting a couple days ago, my phone stopped recognizing the Mem. card. It won't even register when I open the Mem. card door. So now all my apps, tones, vids etc. are no longer available. WTF!!!! 👿

I was able to pair my 6682 w/ my Dell GPS and used WayFinder until it expired. Let me say, VERY KEWL! It now asks me to purchase WayFinder for $14.95. I have looked all over Cingular's website and found no mention of WayFinder and looked at WayFinder's own website and all I can find is a one time fee of $99 from them. The questions is, If I pay for wayfinder will I incure a monthly fee from Cingular or will it just be the one time $14.95 charge? Anyone purchased it yet?

hey looking for this phone alot went to many cingular dealers but they have no clue wehn its coming back some say december some say next week is there any1 out there with an ans???

when this phone first came out, i really wanted it. then i debated between the mpx220 and the s710a. then people got it, and it had problems. i missed out on the $99 special from letstalk.

this phone is still in my local cingular store, but it's $299. am not gonna pay that for it!

it's on nokia's website, available - interestingly - through letstalk for $249 (was $199 last week - damn!) - but you can't get it directly from letstalk, or amazon.

so does anyone have any REAL info as to when it's gonna be back on more online merchants? there are full page ads for this phone all over the latest tech/fashion magazines. it's ridiculous!

honestly, i'd really LOVE a nokia N91 - but who knows if we're ever going to get it, and how much it ...

Is the opera browser 128-bit, secure???? If not, does anyone have any recommendations for a browser in which I can log onto sites such as bank, cc, and others that require a higher degree of security?

Google doesn't allow you to download the installer to the computer, and it runs out of memory when I try to install it from the cingular browser or opera. Did anyone manage to get it installed?
