Nokia 6682 / 6681

I just reset this Nokia 6682 to factory on purpose. It has been fine for a day, but now I cannot get the main menu to open. When you press and hold the main screen fades a little and I get a little gray box at the top of the screen that says "telephone." When I click on it it just returns to the main screen. I cannot get the main menu to pop up at all....I don't get it!!! Please help! I have googled and googled but gotten nothing. Thanks!!!

Hey everyone..having this strange issue where the cam turns on and off on its own...sometimes it just stays on in standby mode....and kills the battery. If it does turn itself off, it returns to the main screen and the keys are now unlocked. This is EXTREMELY annoying. Happens more so while texting...so you get 2 chars. in and it fires the cam up...hit exit continue typing then BAM again.....at my wits end. Then it'll be fine for weeks on end then one day.....
Any help appreciated...

I still love my 6682, but I think I'm wanting something else. I'd really like to have a few things it's missing (a QWERTY, wifi, GPS, among others), but I've yet to find a phone I like that's reasonably priced and/or doesn't have a major strike against it - the iPaq 6925, for example, would be nice, except it runs Windows, which I hate passionately. But can I even find such a phone? Should I 'downgrade' to a 6030 & get a separate PDA or 770?

What I'd like to know is, what have you, my fellow 6682 users, upgraded to? What phone has come to take the place of the Symbian wonder?

My phone keeps telling me that the memory is full - not possible. I have deleted every picture, every file I don't use, every video clip, every text message, and even cleared the log from the phone. I was considering trying a firmware update, thinking it may give the phone more memory (it's also doing the random shut downs) - but I would hate to do it if it's not needed. Does anyone know what I can do to see what the memory status is or maybe even see what's using the memory? I mean, it's so strange....the log on the phone will show I got a text message and who from, but it won't pop in the inbox.....and the inbox is completely empty. I have the memory card in, there's nothing on that. The only think that I can even begin to think of i...

Since getting my new phone and fixing the faceplate thanks to your help i now have another larger problem. The phone about every 10 mins or while texting starts to fade and then turns off powering back on by itself. It doesnt do a full cycle but goes to a nokia screen and takes only a few seconds to reboot. What could be the problem? again Thank You for any help.

Well, I'm on my third cingular edition of this phone in three months due to it locking up and not recognizing the SIM card. The latest is starting to show signs it will do the same, like freezing and requiring a restart. I'm quite annoyed with this phone and ready to have cingular replace it with something else. Is there any sure fire way to "brick" this thing already, I've run out of patience.

i've done so much research to find the answer to why this phone was able to do the following with its "bluetooth capabilities" and still no answers:

--when having a bluetooth single ear bud connected (mine is a plantronics 640, 1.2 version) and the ph rings, the tone is played on the phone and thru the ear bud...nice!
--when recording a video and the ear bud is connected the sound is recorded not thru the ph but thru the bud instead (including a convo if your recording and on a call)..not so great ☹️
--BUT GREATEST THING when the ear bud is connected and you play a song you can jam thru the bud not thru the ph for everyone else to "enjoy" your music.. 😁

was this a glitch?? a setting?? the fact that both were 1.2 versions of bluet...

I was just wondering if anyone has Smart movie on there phone and is using a bluetooth headset to listen to the movies they watch with it, and if this is possible. one of the guys I work with said he was not able to use his headset to listen to videos on his phone just answer calls.

Any help would be appreciated.

HEY GUYS!!! what is it about this ph (feat or version of bluetooth) that allows the listening of movies, music, and ringtones thu a single bluetooth earbud?? my 6682 crapped out 😢 and i wanted to find another ph with this ability and no one can seem to tell me why this ph was able to send the "sounds" to my plantronics 640....plantronics says the ph has to have a2dp profile and this phone doesnt have it SO IT SHOULDNT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO IT!!! so what was it that made it work!!!????

we are gathered at this thread to pay tribute to a Nokia 6682, taken from us before our time. Not more than 2 weeks from this day, while inspecting damage from a car accident, and juggling insurance papers, this phone was dropped, and it's precious, beautiful screen was beaten beyond functionality. Oh how this user has been upset since that time. Not 2 days from the iPhone being announced, the precious 6682 fell from the grip of it's user, fatally kissing the concrete. No insurance plan covered this phone, and though the SIM & memory card will live on, the phone is lost to us.

So we gather to pay tribute to you, Sixty Six Eighty Two.

Long live Symbian phones! May they be smart, in memory of you, running many awes ...

Hey everyone! Well I just got the 2 gig card and now have plenty of room for mp3's. So what is with the nokia headphones? The sound is great but they are annoying to untangle... anyone have any other headphone options that work with the 6682?

How big of an MMC does it takes?

A few revisions back the Nokia Software Updater started reporting that my 6682 wasn't a supported phone. Anyone having this trouble? I was able to update the phone in the past using the updater. I tried using another computer and it said the same thing. Any ideas?

Poorly designed charger and headset ports are my biggest cell phone peeves. How are the ones on the 6682?

The first phone I had for any length of time was a nokia, I'd still have it if my provider didn't upgrade from TDMA. Back then, all nokias used the same reliable charger port. The only drawback on those phones were the bizarre proprietary headset connectors, that usually hooked into the underside of the phone. I used to have to replace the connector every few months (but at least it was replaceable).

In the last few years Nokia has started changing charger connectors as often as they used to with the headsets, with similar results.

My latest Nokia has this tiny thin little pin of a charger connector that didn't work well to beg...

Has anyone found any new problems with the new firmware? also anyone having problems using their 512mb or 1gig cars on a new firmware phone?? i had a problem and had to return it.

Hi all! Does anyone know of or if it is possible to force the 6682 or any phone to pickup a signal? I work in an "iffy" signal area and my cingular reception goes up or down, depending on which part of the desk the phone sits. Sometimes I have to wait quite a bit or just runout to the stairwell. I'm sure the phone looks for the strongest signal automatically, but it would be sweet if there was a program which could give a little more info on signal strength.

I ordered a Nokia Wireless GPS Module when I ordered my phone from LetTalk. I have had the phone for about 2 weeks but the GPS module is on back order. Do many of you have one of these and do you use it much? Anybody use another brand? Do they only work with wayfinder or can you use it with other programs?

I have used a Garmin GPS with my laptop for years and really like it.

😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 Yes!!! 2 weeks ago I put in a request to get this phone unlocked because I will be going to Europe this summer and I told them that I would need my phone unlocked. They put in the request for me and then 5 minutes later they sent an email back to me saying that they didn't have an unlock code for me yet. Then today I got it!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!

So, I've kept my PC for increasingly smaller reasons, and now, one of the main reasons left is the Nokia PC suite, which won't work on my iBook at all. However, my iBook does not have Bluetooth, so I've been unable to test out getting files back & forth that way. I'll soon be getting a new iMac (which does have Bluetooth), but I'm curious about getting files back & forth.

I take a lot of pics with the phone, so I want to know if there's a way to get image capture or iPhoto to recognize the phone (they won't on my iBook via usb). I also use the phone as my primary music player, so I'd like to know if there's a way to send music files that way.

I LOVE this phone, and would hate to be unable to use it because there's no Nokia PC suite ...
