LG VX-8100

I have a quick question for those who might know...

Will I be able to sync my contacts (phone numbers, etc) from Outlook through Bluetooth, and more importantly, will I be able to use the phone as a bluetooth modem on the EVDO network with my laptop?

Not sure if the V710 can do both of these things now, but I assume the VX8100 will have the same bluetooth profiles as the V710...

I've been researching and almost ready to buy, but need advice on phone choice.

I'm not as interested in the 'gadgets' (though they are pretty cool) with the exception of business use items... i.e. synching w/ my laptop, reception & voice quality in all areas (travel quite a bit), speakerphone, voice dialing, etc.. as well as overall build quality & durability.

The v710 seems to be good enough... but I've read many threads stating minor cons, it seems worth waiting for the 815. I also like the LG's, i.e. 8100, but all other phones in this line (7000, 8000) don't have minor items like speaker phone.

Bottom line; I'm pretty set on either the 815 or 8100... but would like feedback if I'm choosing correctly or just paying extra for g...

Read on HoFo something about no USB slot. Is this true? Specs list USB. Anyone know?

will we be albe to send MP3's for ringtones at ALL??? seriously, if i cannot cut and copy my ringtones to this phone, then its no better to me then anything else out there for verizon. i have an IPOD FOR MP3'S, i dont need some phone to play mp3s so the battery can die even faster.

I am a Verizon customer. I called the customer service # and asked about the VX-8100. They looked for it and said the only thing they have as "Coming Soon" for LG is the 4650. They do not have the 8100 listed yet. In fact, I just called the LG customer service # (you can find it easily on their website - www.lgusa.com) and the person I spoke with said they are looking at mid-July. 😲

I guess we will all know when it makes it into the store. I am SO anxious. I have the VX-4500 - I really like it, but I am ready to upgrade! 😁

Ok so I know that the bluetooth is crippled, which is stupid of course, but does that mean that we wont be able to send our own ringtones through MiniSD transfer?
That was the best part about the v551 that I owned for like a week, I could send my own mp3 files to the phone for amazing ringtones, and I don't feel like paying 2 bucks a ringtone which I have to download from Verizon for.

i swear...i'm first off one of those peoples that can't wait to get something new to fix the itch...so i figured i would pass my vx6000 to my daughter whose 12 and i thought i would get a new phone....so, i wanted the vx8000 but wasn't sure if i needed all that "stuff" anymore cuz i rarely used the camera on the 6000......so i looked at the Samsung sch-n330.....and thought i'll get it and if i totally can't live without the "extras" i'll bring it back and exchange.....no biggie right....that is until i find this website and see that the vx8100 is being released soon.....dangit!!!!!...why me, why now.....i want the vx8100 with bluetooth but i only have 7 days left to return....dangit, dangit, dangit.....hmmmmmm, i wonder if i can return and g...

😡 VZW must be must be monitoring this site. I stated before, I am in marketing. They must be hurting because they are doing a hell of a lot of advertising - TV as well as radio. Probably stuck with a lot of outdated products. That is why you see a lot of freebees. Buy 1 - get 2 or 3 free. You can be sure they will squeeze every $$ they can before releasing the 8100 or e815. Release them now and stuck with more product than ever. Beleive me, they're taking a beating. A lot of people have jumped to other carriers because of the Bluetooth. VZW is always the last to update they're phones. They drop hints of new, full featured phones, but never get released.
Sure hope I'm wrong about the 8100, but as others have stated, don't be surprised if...

Okay, you people need to stop being so naive about people saying when the phone is "going" to be released. Chances are it will be in the store one to two days before it is updated on the net. When it does come on, there will be a flood of messages. Wait for that. Until then, either buy the 8000 (which is what I did cuz it's only a little worse than the 8100) or hold out for the 8100. Don't enable these a-holes that say they have one while you know deep down they don't/ JUST HAVE SOME PATIENCE!!!

According to a long thread on the Motorola e815 forum, the fairly substantiated rumor is that Verizon is going to release the e815 as well as the vx8100 on June 27. The info on the e815 came from the Motorola rep directly as well as info from a give away Motorola is putting on.

The info on the vx8100 came from HoFo. Whether or not it is exact, we'll see, but at least we seem to be getting closer. This is better than saying September or not at all!

I read another post someplace stating that the person had the opportunity to use both an E815 and a VX8100 and chose the E815. Anyone else had the opp. to test these phones? Any suggestions? 😕

By the way, I know this is a stupid question, but what is HoFo? 😕

Hello, I really like the look of this phone, so if you guys don't mind I have a few questions!

1. Can you use a usb cable to transfer your phone numbers (outlook) and pictures to your phone? I use bluetooth right now but since its disabled with Verizon....

2. Can you download drivers from LG's website to make the bluetooth work? A verizon salesman guy who actually seemed to know what he was talking told me that you could do that, but it would void the warranty. Yes I know this has been discussed to death, but i've never heard this one before.

3. The verizon salesman told me that if you used a usb cable or downloaded the bluetooth drivers then you voided the warranty. Is that true?
