😡 VZW must be must be monitoring this site. I stated before, I am in marketing. They must be hurting because they are doing a hell of a lot of advertising - TV as well as radio. Probably stuck with a lot of outdated products. That is why you see a lot of freebees. Buy 1 - get 2 or 3 free. You can be sure they will squeeze every $$ they can before releasing the 8100 or e815. Release them now and stuck with more product than ever. Beleive me, they're taking a beating. A lot of people have jumped to other carriers because of the Bluetooth. VZW is always the last to update they're phones. They drop hints of new, full featured phones, but never get released.

When you advertise like VZW it's because of low sales. All the freebees is to bring in more business. People are buying a lot of unlocked phones. Also, their PTT is not what they expected. Look around. Nextel still dominates.
As for Cingular, they still hold a big chunk of the market. I am in NJ. I have an LG 8000. Lately the siginal has been horrible. A lot of dropped calls. Most of the people I work with also have VZW. The same problem. Maybe instead of all the BS, some more towers might help.

Verizon is always tops or vey close to the top in sales and new customers. PTT, nationally it sucks. Sure it is good for local or even regional markets but overall it is not good. You are right reference the towers. In my area GP region, I dont hear of that problem and I am into that info every day. Granted I know it is different ever where.

Its not that Verizon takes forever to update new phones. It's that other companies have to rush new product out to compete with Verizon's quality and coverage. I will agree though that Verizon does sometimes seem to be the last carrier to come out with new tech. like bluetooth

I agree about VZW holding out for money. They are trying to squeeze every last dime out of the equipment they have before they release something that will leave "dead" inventory laying around. I agree that VZW is definately behind when it comes to getting new phones out and available! I would honestly switch carriers if they had better coverage in my area!!!

The only problem with this logic is that the 8100 is going to fit high up in their line of available phones, so releasing it may only hurt sales of phones in the $200 - $250 range, namely the VX8000, A890 and 8940, which were all released in Feb. That said, however, could it be a pattern that Verizon is releasing their top phones in groups? Could they be delaying the release of the 8100 cause the E815 is not ready yet? Or could the guy at HoFo be right about them offering some kind of new service incl. these 2 phones?

Anyone who thinks VZ is hurting is sadly mistaken. Cingular is losing their shorts. They spent too much buying AT$T to be able to "raise the bar" with new towers. Those of you who have cingular on the east coast have great luck because it's a motorola based network. Here on the west coast, TDMA and GSM are nokia based. Motorolas suck on nokia networks, and bulk of cingular's phones are motorola. Who's got the bad business model? Not the company who puts 20% of their operating capital directly back into their network (VZ). Verizon tests thoroughly almost to a fault. PTT? why do you think they have unlimited in-network? Just make a call. It's just as easy. Everybody will admit that Nextel has the market of walkie talkie locked, but...
