Re: helllooooo Moto?....aviduzer
Im not sure what you mean by "GSM capabilities on their CDMA towers"
Furthermore, i know it sounds like a great idea--roaming onto GSM towers, but Verizon will not do it. The phones will strictly be made for ONLY international roaming...
there's nothing more to be said thats how its going to be...unfortunately. But on the positive note...it's better than nothing. These phones are going to produce huge revenue and more commerce to Verizon, allowing frequent travelers to, well, travel.
Re: New phones????
Just a note....
Verizon doesn't release new phones.. They wait until they are outdated... Once other carriers discontinue their phones, Verizon picks them up at a discounted price, Jacks up the sell price and sells outdated, and usually defective phones...
Re: New phones????
Just a note... Many of the phones released by Verizon have serious defects... Probably because Verizon makes massive software changes to the phones... The Samsung T300 would lock on a PRL Update... Oooopppsss... Kyocera 3035 would not show the message waiting indicator... Motorola T720 was defective out of the box... The phone was severely delayed while other carriers were selling the phone... Only Verizon had the issues of the phone locking up... The audiovox 8900 pulled imediately after release... That is just off the top of my head.. Verizon claims to test these phones, but the phones are far inferior to the competition... But yes, it is customer service (or the ability to at least talk to someone) an the network that keeps us..
As far as technology goes.... Verizon has not kept pace with the competition... And many of the phones scheduled to be released the end of April (if verizon is able to muck up the software by then), but many of the phones are already old technology that has been selling for 6 months to a year on other networks...
But yes... I have seen many people go GSM, or go back to Sprint Pretty Crappy Service just for the phones....
Ouch... I hate dropped calls and will stay with last years technology just so that I have the ability to make a call...

Re: Verizon not #1 anymore. Or Are they?
on a side note...GSM is used by VZW...example...you want to go to europe....call VZW customer service hotline and speak to a rep about phone rentals....they ar VZW phones....and use the GSM network...but are only available to U.S. travelers at the moment who have VZW service...I don't know the details of the if and who they rent spectrum from there...but I know its an option....I wouldn't be surprised if it was VoDaFone
Re: Real Price

Does anyone know...
I currently have a 2 year contract that I signed up for about 1 year ago +/- with VZW when I got the T720.
Can I just upgrade to the V710. And, would it be possible to get the cheaper 2 year contract price?
Thanks for your help!
MarthaStewart, here's a response I got from Verizon regarding their upgrade policy.
If you have a one-year contract agreement you can upgrade equipment every 10 months at the one-year promotional price. If you have a two-year service agreement you can upgrade
equipment every 22 months at the two-year promotional price.
As a reminder, we do offer an early upgrade program for existing customers. Here is how the program works.
Early upgrades will be allowed for customers who meet the following eligibility requirements:
· Be on or migrate to a current calling plan $49.99 or higher with a two-year service agreement.
· Completed at least 12 full months of service.
· Account must be current with no more than 30 days balance due at the time of upgrade.
· Requires a new two-year agreement that would reset the clock for New Every Two.
Note: Customers participating in New Every Two are eligible for an early upgrade at two-year pricing. In order to receive the New Every Two discount (up to $100.00), they must have completed 22 months since their last equipment upgrade.
Hope this helps.
