Re: Buyout of Edge Wireless?
AT&T Announces Purchase of Edge Wireless
San Antonio, Texas, December 3, 2007
AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that AT&T, through an affiliate, has entered into a definitive agreement with Edge Wireless Holding Company to acquire full ownership in Edge Wireless LLC ("Edge Wireless"), a regional wireless company with approximately 172,000 subscribers that operates in several markets in the Pacific Northwest.
Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T, which has held a minority ownership interest since Edge Wireless' inception in 2000, will acquire the remaining 64.3 percent of the company.
The addition of Edge Wireless' GSM network will complement AT&T's existing GSM networks in Northern California, Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming. AT&T customers will enjoy broader in-network coverage in these areas, and Edge Wireless customers will gain access to AT&T's full portfolio of products and services as well as AT&T's fully integrated GSM network, which now covers more than 290 million people in 13,000 U.S. cities and towns.
The transaction is contingent upon regulatory approval and is expected to close by mid-2008.

Re: GMAIL with MOBILE EMAIL w. Voyager
Yes, however if you set up mobile google (www.google.com/xhtml) in your browser, go to mail and book mark it, you can pick up googlemail there too, and it will attempt to render attachments including xls, doc, pdf and jpg. It doesn't do a perfect formatting job and you can't edit, but you can usually read the info in them. So, if you see in mobile email that there is an attachment, you can go to mobile google and see if you can read it.
Note also that you can register your phone with google calendar and get text pages for appointment reminders, text new appointments to google calendar at GVENT, and view your calendar through mobile google as described above. I have both google mail and google calendar bookmarked in the browser for quick access.

Cellular One to AT&T
I worked for AT&T for a year and a half before moving to Pennsylvania. I was lucky enough to remain in the wireless industry by getting a job at a Cellular One dealer. During the interview, I was told that AT&T had bought Cell One. I had read about the AT&T/Dobson deal, but was unaware that Dobson was Cell One. I am happy about the change because I have an advantage over the other Cell One reps in the area. We went to a training on the migration and the trainer knew that I had worked for AT&T. She did not know more than what they had taught her at her own training so she asked me for verification on just about everything.
Today is the last day that we are Cell One. Before I leave tonight, I will put up all the new AT&T signage. We have already removed the majority of the Cell One signage. I just had a lady come in to inquire about buying a replacement phone. We only have three phones left for Cell One: Sony Ericsson W580i, Samsung x506 and Blackberry 7290 (Yes, we still have some). She had the x506 and was trying to replace it. The SE is $400 retail and she did not want a BB. I told her of two other Cell One locations nearby and educated her that they may have some more phones available.
I also told her that she could wait until Monday and switch to AT&T. She asked me about the change over (like everyone has today) and I explained that no one will be forced to switch (at least not for a year or so based on the AT&T Wireless transition). She asked about the plans and I gave her a Family Talk brochure. She looked at the pamphlet and just about freaked. She said the prices were too high and she was going to keep her Cell One as long as possible. She put the brochure into her purse and said:
"I'd rather switch to Verizon than pay that much for service."
Little does she know that Verizon's Family Share plans are the EXACT SAME as AT&T's except you get Rollover and a larger Mobile-to-Mobile network with AT&T. I am glad I looked that up. That could be a great selling point for Cell One customers deciding between migrating to AT&T or going to Verizon.
*Note: Verizon is the only other competitor in the area.

Re: world edition
Yes. It has CDMA for use in the US, and GSM for use overseas. There is a SIM card slot.
(Note that - like all of Verizon and Sprint's CDMA+GSM world phones - it will not not work on US GSM networks. It only supports US frequency bands in CDMA mode, and only supports GSM on overseas frequency bands.)

These kids are playing with one of those cans of compressed air, the kind they use to clean out dust. They were basically acting like stupid teenagers and spraying each other with the stuff.
I didn't realize what was going on until I heard "OWE, that hurts!"
Well now I am listening and the girl is complaining that her knuckles are turning purple...
Stupid kids, she's got a mild case of frostbite on her hand because he was screwing around with something that ISN'T a toy.
Now she really needs to go to urgent care and have that looked at and pray that it wasn't worse than it looks... lord, she could have lost fingers that way!
Really... pain in the brain.

We got a hold of some of those Air Duster cans one day. The only thing we did with it though was freeze pennies to our bosses cabinet.
