Android 5.0.2 is available for first Gen Moto G
by Jaden10    Jan 23, 2015, 9:01 AM
in the Article: Moto G Earns Android 5.0 Lollipop Update forum

While the official Android 5 (Lollipop) ROM is going through soak tests, albeit not to successfully, there are several custom Lollipop ROMS are available. The best of the crop is "Candy5" available at http://the-candy-shop.co/candy5.html It is based mainly on Cyanogenmod 12 and a few others. it is the most feature complete Lollipop rom available. You also have the official Cyanogenmod 12 rom' https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=f alcon It is a bit rough around the edges, but still functional. Both the roms requires the phone to have a unlocked bootloader and a rooted phone. There are guides out there that provide that information. If you are nervous about doing that then I suggest you don't do it or have someone else who has had experience with rooting do it. Here is a list for all current roms for Moto G 1st Generation. http://romsforandroids.blogspot.com /2014/02/motorola-moto-g-falcon-rom-list.html Disclaimer. I can not and will not be held responsible if you brick your phone. Rooting and unlocking is not for the faint at heart or the inexperienced. Rooting and unlocking will void the warranty of your phone.

PTT-capable, no PTT button?
by cellphonesaretools    Feb 5, 2015, 12:05 PM
in the Article: Review: Kyocera DuraXV for Verizon Wireless forum

I must be missing something obvious, but so far I can't see it. The Specs & Features page shows this phone to be PTT capable, yet there is no PTT button on the side (as their is will all of Kyocera's rugged flip phones on Sprint). If there is no PTT button on this simple, rugged flip phone, how does it do PTT? Which then begs the question, does anyone actually use Verizon PTT anyway? Just curious what I'm missing. Just for historical perspective, compare this review of the Dura-XV to the old Moto i580 (two links below: User reviews at Phonescoop, Editor's review at CNET): https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/user_r eviews.php?phone=875 http://www.cnet.com/produc ts/motorola-i580/ Despite having the i580 as the high-water mark of rugged flip-phones from which to learn & copy, Kyocera & Sprint are still lagging (and the i580 was introduced a mere 8 years ago...)

The unlocked model doesn't support CDMA or LTE bands 12, 13, 26 or 41. It also doesn't include any of AT&T's specialized carrier aggregation bands. Motorola needs to hurry up with the 2015 Moto X.
