A few questions-
by Wireless Buddy    Oct 17, 2006, 2:42 PM
in the Verizon forum

1) I know you can upgrade a line at 22 months. Can you also cancel that line at 22 months? 2) Online, can you buy a Motorola Q, or do you have to do that instore? 3) Whats the return policy for online? If you want to use Worry Free Guarantee, do you ship the box back or can you do it at your local VZW corp. store? 4) If I buy the Q and it breaks at 1 year into my 2 year contract, can I replace it for a refurbished one fro $50, or is this if you buy insurance? **NOTE- Please use blockquote when replying, or restate the question so I know what you're talking about. THANKS! You all are so much help

I am a rep for Sprint... none of the contracts I have had a customer sign have the text messaging rate listed on them. I do not see how this could be a breach of contract unless it was stated on the contract. Note: this was through our field activations terminal

How to get true stereo from Bluetooth A2DP output
by DaDuck    Oct 19, 2006, 11:06 PM
in the HTC 3125 / Smartflip / 8500 (Star Trek) forum

By default the Cingular 3125 is set to send out a mono signal at relatively low quality audio via the A2DP Bluetooth. To change this you will need to make a few changes to the registry. If registry mods are not your cup-a-tea, you're outa luck. The info below is quoted directly from Andrei's post at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.ph p?t=270816 ------------------------------------ --------- [HKLM_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsof t/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings] Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1) 1 - Join Stereo (Mono) 0 - Real Stereo To improve Audio Quality modify the following keys: Dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal) Modify, Value MaxSupportedBitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal) For BitPool: Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes. 30 - Low audio quality 40 - Medium audio quality 48 - High audio quality 58 - Excellent audio quality Choose one you like. I think 48 is good enough. Thanks Wiki for the info. I did not test that myself. I did make the mods to my registry. It sounds FANTASTIC on my new cheap Logitech headphones :) DaDuck

Re: Synch with Outlook Contacts

in the LG VX-8300 forum

I have been researching this same question for a week now. I have found no evidence that it can actually synch calendar and contacts from computer to this phone. 1. Sales person in store said he thinks the VX-9800 is the only phone that can do that. 2. Tech support person on phone from Verizon researched it and said same thing... even with the Mobile Office Kit, the 9800 is the only phone that can synch calendar and contacts. 3. The one reviewer on this site who said he had managed to synch: I emailed him and he doesn't really remember what he had done and if it was successful. Note of caution: According to the tech support person, the VX-9800 only synchs wirelessly, via Bluetooth, and you have to pay $20/month for the service. I'm not giving up my pda yet...

God I love when people complain about the Verizon UI... It really isn't a big deal, unless you are that bored and you must stare at your phone all day long. (by the way the 8300 has the ability to change the colors on the UI if the red is just too much for you)... AND as for the technology that is "so far behind" maybe you should check out the Samsung a990 which is the ONLY phone in the us with a 3.2 megapixel camera??? Can your carrier say that? Nah, didn't think so.... And one last note... Verizon cripples their devices to make bank on people needing to customize thier phones... And if you KNEW how to use your memory card, which I believe our "boring, old people" phones have, you might be able to figure out how to transfer information... Think about that the next time you try and "joke" on Verizon... Jealousy is a nasty, nasty trait...

Extended battery life - What's your experience?
by pcat    Oct 24, 2006, 3:55 PM
in the Motorola Q forum

I purchased the Q with the extended battery and still find the battery life to be much less than my old V710 (also had extended battery). I have turned off bluetooth and IR beam. I decided to measure the actual battery life of a typical day using the timers(Note: you can reset and view the timers under the Call History menu). Interestingly, the phonescoop specs list 240 minutes of talk time with what I believe is the std. battery - this is clearly not possible! I am down to one bar after only around 80 minutes of talk today with minimal Internet and email use. What are others experiencing in terms of battery life?

Just FYI... The first month I received two bills - exact same info on both. Paid one, thought the other was just a reprint. Second month I received two bills. Paid the lower one because the manager at the store said he would adjust the activation fees per their incredible incompetence (I never did receive this credit). I paid the lower one because I thought it was the adjusted balance. After that, one bill a month - paid in full, on time, every month. BUT... I don't see how it is, in any way, my responsibility to pay for, call about, or correct a counterfeit account - whether I receive a monthly bill or not. Would it be any different if the bill was under the wrong name, address, SS#. Afterall, I didn't open, sign a contract, give my permission, or use any service I didn't pay for. I have no LEGAL repsonsibilty to do anything about such an account. Nor, do I feel I have any ETHICAL responsibility. But I still called. ON A SIDE NOTE... As I mentioned in the first post I called over 10 times to get the account taken care of and several more to follow up. This does not meet the "Worry Free Guarantee," which states - If you ever have a problem, it becomes our problem the first time you call. No run-arounds, no hassles. If your issue can't be resolved during the course of your first call, we will take the responsibility to get back to you with an answer. How is speaking with over 20 verizon reps not a run-around? How is calling back to be sure things were done correctly, only to find out they were not, not a hassle? Customer service is not smiling, being cheery, or apologetic! It is, above all else, being competent at your job. My greatest concern is my credit score, because being newly married, this is a time in my life when I will be financing homes, cars, etc. But, I will pay the late fees, if whomever I speak with at the time of cancellation decides I must. And, if this does effect my credit I will ultimately have to deal with that too, but I will pursue legal means to do so. IN THE END... who in their right mind would maintain a business relationship, with anyone, given my circumstances?
