Re: The New Sprint-Nextel company! Here we go. Here are some Facts for Subscribers
You think your giving us some "jewels of wisdom" here??? I don't even work for Nextel or Sprint and I already know alot more than that. Like I've said before, either put up or shut up please. I don't care about your "confidentiality agreements" This is a PUBLIC FORUM, and unless they really feel like tracing your IP, and I don't think they would want to take the time to do that. This is a completely anonymous forum. So you are either:
1. A geek wanting to feel important by providing "some" details, and then hiding behind your "agreement."
2. A total liar that likes to give a little bit of info that is already publicly available anyway and is not behind any kind of "agreements", you just like to try to make yourself feel important.
A quick side note....2 years to make a dual mode phone? You say Nextel and Sprint are going to dominate the industry, yet you say it's going to take them 2 years to create a dual mode phone??? You are a true moron. Trust me when I say it DEFINITELY will not take that long to create a dual mode phone. They could release one at any time. All they have to do is add the cdma frequency into an iden phone. The only thing that will take longer is if they try to add the ability to have seamless handoff's between the two...I still don't see it taking two years however.
You do realize that by stating it will take the companies you obviously love 2 years to create something which should be cake to make, you are implying there are incredibly stupid, right? And how can a stupid company dominate the industry? I really don't think you know what your talking about.
I mean really....Nextel already creates dual mode iden/gsm phones for use overseas....I don't think it would be too hard to make an iden/cdma.
From what I've noticed on the forums, you always ask people to back up their statements with proof...yet you constantly post on here with nothing more than publicly available info that is not that noteworthy at best. I figured long before the merger that when it happened nextel would get the mobile to mobile feature.
So let me add something that people might like to know:
The Samsung SCH-A940 will be released for Sprint-Nextel on the Sprint side of the network. I'm sure you guys are saying, the 940?? What's that??? Well, I'm pretty sure it's going to be the Sprint version of the a970 that verizon is getting. You can see that phone here:
https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.p hp?p=724
This phone looks sweet....I think I may have found a reason to migrate over to Sprint, considering I really think M2M is better than direct connect in most circumstances anyway.
Also, I think this has been mentioned before, but Nextel will have Fair & Flexible plans now and Sprint will have Free Incoming plans now.
Of course I don't have ALOT of info that isn't already publicly available, however I am not going to post it with the attitude that nextel18 does and act like I'm benefitting everybody in these forums with said info.
Get a life nextel18, please.
Re: Verizon Vs T-Mobile
gsm better for voice hahaha you got to be kidding me right?, I have used tmobile or even cingular both sucked,, dropped calls weird voice quality, tmobile coverage simply sucks,
another thing you might want to note,
GSM signal is limited to about 34 km distance away from towers so I do not think voice quality is better than cdma in which cdma signal can travel up to 120km or even more.

Re: voice dialing calls when phones is closed/opened

i have been looking on the boards but unable to find the correct answer. Is there a way to voice dial calls when the phone is closed? i know i can do "drive mode", which seems pointless for calling if i have to open the phone anyway- if i open the phone the phone i might as well speed dial the person. I am aware of receiving calls on drive mode, but i am interested in voice dialing calls when the phone is closed. ALSO, is there a way to voice dial (with the phone open) without hitting a key (i.e. just saying "call xxxxxx")?
A) Yes... You can voice dial with the phone closed, but only if you have a headset plugged in... If you plug a headset in and then just hit the "Mic" button (Lower Left Sidekey) then the phone will say "Say A Command" you then use normal voice commands... Works great...
B) No... You can have the phone in either the Speakerphone mode or the normal Handset mode then you must start a "Voice Command" session by pressing the "Mic" button...
Note: Driving Mode automatically activates the Speakerphone mode, but of course the speaker is overridden if a headset is plugged in...

How is it intrusive? when you have an option to answer or not. That's like saying cell phones are intrusive: because you can always be reached. If you called me Im sure as hell I wouldn't answer lol (j/k) so whether you were video calling me or just calling me I could never say that your call was intrusive. It could be annoying, but not intrusive. :P
Did you even read the study I posted just a post or two back?
"That's what they keep telling themselves in the foreign markets where its already been offered for awhile now, still hasnt happened"
Where did you get your info? Vodafone has just started to offer phone with video calling like the V1050, V975 and V980 since March of this yr. That's NOT "awhile"
Here's a good article from The Economist:
“Three years ago, everyone was talking about video-telephony,” says Mike Thelander of Signals Research Group, a consultancy. But while video-telephony sounds cool, the evidence from early 3G launches in Japan, South Korea, Britain and Italy is that hardly anybody uses it. Market research suggests that women are particularly reluctant to adopt it, says Mr Cole. Nokia's first mainstream 3G handset, the 7600, does not even support video calling, but nobody seems to mind.

Note that its a 2004 article, so the video calling launches in those countries happened awhile back.
