LG VX-4700 / VX-4650 / AX-4750 / UX-4750

I do not see why you think this is pointless...??? I wear a headset at all times when in my car... The 4650 phone is closed and in a clip on my visor... I push one button and then voice dial... This works very well, and is certainly not pointless... You can even leave the phone open on your visor, and use the speaker phone to voice dial without a headset...

I do not know of any flip phone that you can voice dial without opening the flip or wearing a headset...

I have no idea what a 65100 is... If you mean the 6100, you can't even use the speaker phone with the flip closed on the 6100...

i see what you mean TMBS, but i jsut got the phone 2 weeks ago and do not have a headset and figured the speaker would be ok.

i'm curious, do you have a wireless headset? if not, i cannot see driving with a wired headset going to my phone and hooked to my visor all that comfortable or safe...i'm not being funny, just curious

You hardly even know it is there, and it works great... the cord is really not a problem...

Verizon has them... Try it out there, if you like it you can order it online for a lot less $$$...

I know dozens of people using it, and all are happy with it... sound quality is excellent...

Wireless headsets are a pain... and the sound quality is variable... even under the best circumstances...

Please try using your 4650 with a good headset... YOU WILL LIKE IT... You can just leave it clipped to your belt... and then use all the voice control features...

Yes...

I have both... My 6100 is sitting on the shelf in it's box... and it is really not that similar to the 4650... featurewise the 4500 is mor similar to the 4650...

The speaker phone and voice command functions are not nearly as good on the 6100... Also the 6100 is digital only, not Tri-mode... The camera is pretty useless on the 6100... You can NOT use the speaker phone with the flip closed on the 6100...

As a "Phone"... The 4650 is far better...

sweet! thanks...you just sold me on keeping the 4650, but i am a bit confused...you said the 6100 is not tri-mode, but on the LG and werizonwireless sites it states it is tri-mode but NOT dual band. i looked into the defintions of dual band and tri-mode but am still not understanding. cheers again

The vx6000 is only dual mode...

Both the vx6100 and the vx4650 are in fact Tri-Mode phones...

A Tri-Mode phone lets you access the old analog cellular system... as well as both CDMA bands (800 & 1900MHz)... This would only happen if you were in a very remote area... It is unlikely that you would need the AMPS (Analog) ability in any metropolitan area...

that's cool, glad we cleared it up. So, since you were thinking of the 6000, does that mean "The 6100 speaker phone and voice command functions " CAN possibly BE AS GOOD AS the 6100?...

Also, were you thinking of the 6000 with the camera as well? if so, is the 6100 camera good enough?

And last but not least, were you thinking of the 6000 with speaker phone as well? IF so, can you use the speaker phone with the flip closed on the 6100?

The 6000 does not even have a camera...

If you want a camera phone look at the vx8000... it also has a great speaker phone...

But, if you want a cell phone to be a CELL PHONE, and not a toy... stick with your 4650, it will prove to be an excellent choice...

I hate to admit it but you still seem very confused despite you making corrections about your posts. The 6000 has a camera of course. It was the first phone for Verizon over two years ago. That was an all digital handset and waw one of the most popular handsets on Verizon at the time. When you refer to the 8000, it is discontinued and is no longer available unless you go into a store and they only have a few left. The 8100 officially replaced it. I do agree with you about the 4650. It seems to be one of Verizon's best phones out now. It has excellent RF that is suppossed to be equivalent to Motorola phones and it does not seem to really have any issues like most LG's phones when they first come out.

Yes, the 8100 did replace the 8000 but the camera on the 8100 is a CMOS sensor not a CCD like the 8000, and the picture are not nearly as good... There are plenty of 8000's still out there at the stores (Verizon and Circuit City)... and you can get them on eBay too...

You then have the ongoing debate: Which is the better phone - the 8000 or the 8100? The 8000 may have the better camera because of the lens and then you have the 8100 which has a lesser quality lens as you mentioned but you get a voice command system as well as an MP3 player which is crippled until the 2nd firmware update is released to the public and the capability to have a SD memory card in the phone.

Yup... All correct, and subject to personal opinion... That's why they make all these different phones with different features...

But the 8000 can be had for a lot less money... Some store managers are letting them go for $99 "full retail" (NO CONTRACT EXTENSION)
