Unlocking CDMA phones...

First off guys... have mercy on me if this has been posted befor... I tried searching for it in the forums and couldnt find it.... so lets all PLEASE NOT FLAME THE NOOB.

ahem.

I'm a canuk over here in toronto, and I work for Bell Mobility. Now... here's the million dollar question..... do you know of any way that I could reporgram (providing I had the lock codes of course) a CDMA phone from say sprint for instance, and put it on my 1XRTT network up here? Getting the home SID isnt a problem, I know that.

Is there any way possible to do this? or am I doomed to have really ****ty phones that are years behind the rest of the universe?

Thanks in advance folks.

Motorola v551 connectivity

Does any technically inclined person out there know answers to the following questions for the new Motorola V551 phone:
(a)Can you connect to a laptop w/ a data cable and use as a wireless "modem" -- I've gotten answers both ways from Cingular?
(b)Can you send pictures taken w/ the phone to a computer via a sync cable -- again, answers both ways from Cingular?
(c)Can you sent pictures from a computer to the phone via a sync cable?
Thanks 🙂

Best Bluetooth Earpiece

I know everyone has a different opinion on this question but I have certain requirements and am looking for a new earpiece.

I have a hearing problem and need either a earpiece with very loud volume or one that plugs right into the ear canal so that I can hear clearly.

Currently, I am using the Motorola HS810. Works great except many times the volume is not loud enough for me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some assistance or info, please?

My Blackberry phone keeps receiving calls from numbers I don't recognize. When I answer, there is no one on the line. When I call back the number, the person on the other end says they never called me. This is happening during the day, night, in meetings. Any ideas how to stop this? My carrier (Cingular) has changed my phone number, no difference. I'm still getting these calls. It's like SPAM for phones. 😕

Cingular access number.........

Here's the deal. I have been trying to use my cell phone as a dial-up modem. When placing the call, I can see the number dialing on the phone's screen. But, then I can hear the "operator error" tone (the series of beeps you get when you don't dial the area code, or when you dial a disconnected number) and the connection shuts off. Does anyone know what kind of prefix I need to put in front of the dial-up number to get through the system? If I manually dial the number, then the call goes through so that tells me that it's in the dialing sequence from the computer. 😕

Tech Questions on T Mobile V188 using Cingular SIM

Purchased a TMobile V188, all set on the phone side but I am wondering how to program the web side or if I can at all.

1. Do TMobile and Cingular use the same web protocols ?

2. If they do can I program my V188 to use Cingular settings ? and how do I do this.

So Far Cingular Customer Care via phone was not able to assist. I am going to check with my Cingular store but any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.

Find Friends with Cingular

AT&T Wireless used to have "Find Friends," a location-based tool used to find other AT&T users with mMode. It was cool because you could also find nearby restaurants, gas stations, etc..

Does anyone know if something like this is available with Cingular?

Under "there's no such thing as a dumb question"....

Am I to understand that with all the phones out there I'm only able to use a phone that
is listed under a particular servers name?
Like with Verizon - I can only use the phones that they list on their web site? What's with all this talk of trading a sim card from one phone to another?

If you like a particular phone, but it's on another network, then you have to change your provider?? Very odd.

I don't get it.

Treo 650

I've already posted in the "general" forum, but my question is concerning using the MP3 player with the Bluetooth headset. Do they work together, as in can you listen to music with your BT headset? Thank you in advance for your response.
