USB vs. PCMCIA vs. Express Card

which is faster?

currently wireless providers are offering connection cards that fit into the PCMCIA, and Express Card slots on laptops. there are rumors floating around saying that there may well be USB connection cards coming soon.

my question is.. which will perform better. will USB be able to handle the high speeds that EVDO and EVDO Rev-A carry? or do PCMCIA and express cards hold the advantage?

Question about GMS frequency band compatibility

Hi! I am new here ๐Ÿ˜ and maybe you can get me out of darkness in this subject.
I am with CINGULAR and I know that all of their phones are quadband (850, 900,1800 and 1900)
I like the LG KG800 (chocolate) looks European version and this phone is Triband (900,1800 and 1900)
Far as I know CINGULAR is 850, 1900
Do this phone will work OK with CINGULAR?
All the companies selling this phone advertise that will work with CINGULAR other recommend to investigate.
Thanks in advance and forgive me if this question sound stupid, but this field is new to me....

Info on Treo 680

I really appreciate any help you can offer.

I am interested in the treo 680. (mainly due to a smaller sized PDA that runs with Palm software which I am used to).
Currently I am a (happy) verizon customer and I'm wondering if Palm will have a version of this phone that works on a CDMA network. And will I have to wait another year or so.

Otherwise what do you think about switching to Cingular service and getting it through them. I live and use my phone mainly in NYC. Is cingular reliable there?

Thanks alot for any help!
Alexander.

Nokia 6682 or Sony Ericsson W810i?

Hello!

I am planning on getting a new phone in November. I am deciding between two phones- the Nokia 6682, and the SE W810i.

Ofcourse W810i has a way better camera and music player, but the most important thing to me in a phone is the call quality. And I have been a nokia fan since I've owned cellphones.

So I was wondering what you guys think would be the best phone of the two. I had initially planned on getting the 6682, but the W810 has definitely caught my attention... Please help!

Questions about Samsung SGH-D820 (T809)

SO I have this new Samsung SGH-D820 phone, and I love it. It's a bit frustrating though trying to get used to Samsung, as I've had Nokias all my life and very used to the "Nokia logic". Anyways...

1) When I change the style of dialling display in Settings > Display Settings > Dialling Display, then for some reason I lose the option of changing the keypad tone and it'll always be on (so the option for changing it becomes faded in color, meaning that it cannot be changed for example, to off). Why is that? Can that be fixed?

2) Battery questions: Is it bad to charge the battery overnight for, say, 12 hours for example? Is battery life reduced if I charge the phone when the battery is not even half empty (should I wait until it dies off be...

google local via cell phone options

Can I search on Google Local using my mobile phone or other device?

Yes. If you're away from your computer, you can still access Google Local business listings, driving directions, and maps by using your mobile phone or other device. You have the following two options:

* Google Short Message Service (SMS): Send a text message containing your search term and location, such as [cafe seattle wa], to 46645 ('GOOGL' for most phones) to get local listings or your start and end addresses to get driving directions. Learn more about Google SMS.
* Mobile web browsing: Visit http://mobile.google.com/local on your phoneโ€™s web browser. Enter your search term into the "What" field and your location into the "Where" field, then select "Googl...

New Cell Phone Media Research with Windows Mobile 5.0

If you don't mind big brother listening in...

Well not big brother, but a company call Integrated media measurement Inc., www.immi.com wants to know what you like to watch and listen too using special software they run on Cingular 2125 and 3125 cell phones.

They give panel members a free 3125 or 2125 windows mobile phone and pay for 2 years of service (including unlimited data) in exchange for sampling the audio thru the phone every minute or so to see if your listening to any movies, ads or music that they are tracking.

Good, bad, ugly? Who knows, but it looks like it a new way to track what people listen too in their car, for instance, which was not possible before.

Anyway I came across the site and it the first time I have see...

why?

Examples:
SLVR

Only Sprint has a few good phones on their hands, like the blade.

WHY???

ps. please dont respond with a list of your favorite phones that have CDMA, i dont wanna know that. i just need an answer to the question above.

A software to make own ringtones please

I am looking for a software where I can create my own ringtone from mp3 songs. But I want one that once I cut the song I can save the ringtone to my computer and then transfer it to my phone by bluetooth. Most ringtone makers send a link to the phone through a website which is difficult for me to access.

Thankyou
