i860 & Sending Pics

How does this work? Can I take pics & send them to my email? Do you have to be on a special rate plan to do this? Is there a limit to how many pics I can send in a given month?

Are the pics worth a crap in terms of resolution?

Any help appreciated.

The i860 and its Creaky Flip.

I finally had a chance to play around with an i860 for a considerable amount of time. I liked the way it felt in my hand, the color screen was pretty, and the exterior LCD was a plus (big too!). The only thing that left me puzzled was the flip hinge (and how tough it is to close it). Anybody have any comments on this issue? I noticed its two "clicks" during its upward and downward arcs...but it seemed a little bit rickety and hard to shut. Otherwise I really liked the phone...I would eventually get used to the way it opens and shuts.

Sprint-Nextel to Thrive?

Gleaned this off an article suggested in the Verizon forum:

============================================= ==

So 2004 has started and ended with a major US cellco merger. The difference in style and execution of the two deals symbolizes wider contrasts that will filter through to the market as the four companies involved go through their transition periods. The takeover of AT&T Wireless by Cingular was messy, protracted and the buyer has been saddled with an inflated purchase price and a difficult consolidation process. Though the two companies achieved market leading bulk, their marriage was one of deeply flawed operations with poor customer service records and unimaginative future technology paths.

As such, they were representative ...

Sprint, Nextel set for $35B merger

Sprint, Nextel set for $35B merger - reports (FON, PCS, NXTL) By August Cole
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Sprint Corp. (FON) (PCS) and Nextel Communications (NXTL) have reportedly reached a $35 billion deal that would be a merger of two telecom giants. The Wall Street Journal reported Friday afternoon that the two companies have reached a "tentative agreement" for a merger of equals. Earlier, financial news channel CNBC reported that Sprint would exchange 1.3 of its shares for each share of Nextel. The deal, which includes cash, would be worth $35 billion, CNBC said. I am going to smash my i730 and leave Nextel forever

First off, I have been with Nextel now for over 3 years. I am a project manager for a large general contractor in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale to be exact). The radio feature is fantastic for construction because virtually every one of my subs has it, and I got Nextels for all of the people that work for me.

I have an i730, and my employees all have i530s. What complete pieces of crap. I used to have one of the older candybar phones, and while it wasn't as good as phones my friends had from other carriers, it was 10x better than the ones we have now.

Let me define "better". It worked. I got a signal. I could talk without dropping calls. That's really all I want a phone to do.

Our current phones will lose signal when you'r...

Nextel18: Throw in the Towel...

Nextel18, it is now obvious that you, too, must throw in the towel. Every post you place here is ripped apart by others, and they make it very clear that you are just throwing in everything you can to make it seem you are knowledgeable. Please end your (and our) misery and call your internet provider to have yourself disconnected. Thanks. 😎

Nextel coverage changes?

I am trying out Nextel in the Vancouver WA/Portland OR area and my coverage is pretty good so far but I have some questions.

When is Nextel required to change their network, by what date? And is that change going to degrade the coverage I have now or improve the coverage?

I have been reading that Nextel is scrambling to build new towers to comply with FCC req. by a date this spring? Is this true?

I would appreciate anyone who can clarify this for me. I don't want to sign a contract and find my coverage disappears.

Thanks

Nextel cell to cell call drops

I am trying out a Nextel phone and I had something weird happen today. Twice while I was on the phone with friends who were also on their cellphones when they went through a bad coverage area the call dropped.

I was sitting at home with 4 bars. Normally when I am on the phone with someone and they are going thru a bad area their voice cuts in and out and then when the coverage picks up it is fine. I have never had the call just totally drop like that.

Is this my imagination? Is there a reason for this? Does this just happen with Nextel???

I appreciate your input. I am trying to decide between Nextel and Verizon. I like the idea of Nextel's free incoming but this could really be a problem. I thought my biggest issue would be coverage...

"Please hold while...."

Why is it that Nextel users can be right next me in full coverage areas and when I call their phone it goes to the Voice mail? I mean, constantly.

Is all it's good for is the irritating-as-hell walkie talkie that interrupts my dinners, movies, and lets me hear every possible part of your conversations? Its always like, "HEY EVERYBODY!!! I'M NOW USING MY WALKIE TALKIE!!! TUNE IN TO EVERYTHING I HAVE TO SAY!!!". Thank God for Mobile to Mobile; hopefully this hill-billy movement will hurry up and over-flood itself. (Or wait....is that whats happening already?)
