Sprint-Nextel merger is a total technology mismatch
It sure does seem like a weird marriage technologically though. Maybe the article has a point... they could be trying to pump up their value in order to merge with someone more compatible on more favorable terms.

It's obvious that this on-line mag know's nothing of the wireless industry as Telus is still CDMA 1X and they also operate a Telus Mike on iDen as an overlay system.
The technologies are compatible and will make a worthwhile partnership. NEXTEL data users will now get much better speeds than they have in the past under an iDEN or WiDEN platform.

Sometimes I think I have a parrot on my shoulder with that guy... 🤣
What I believe is that Nextel does not have a 3G data connection that can compete with EDGE, CDMA2000 EV-DO, or WCDMA. Nextel's backing is mostly the Quick Connect and their GPS locator system. NASCAR is a growing division of auto racing, but it's not as big as Football, Basketball, or Baseball.
Any other thoughts?
