Interested in a Helio, but very wet around the ears;

Hey guys (& gals), I'm currently with T-mobile on the Sidekick II, however my contract is expiring soon. The logical route would be to re-new my contract & get a Sidekick III, however, I found myself in a new management position within my company, & must keep a cell phone on my at all timmes. The Sidekick is a little blocky for this type of thing, so I was looking at smaller phones, but with the QWERTY keypad.

The new Helio Ocean is really catching my eye, & the unlimited plan (500 anytime minutes, 65$) isn't too far off from what I pay now at T-mobile (39.99 phone plan & 19.99 data plan). I do have a few questions though to seal the deal for me;

1) Why is Helio only sold at FYE in my area? FYE is mostly a music store, with 16-18 yr ol...

If you are unsure of Helio READ THIS

For anyone thinking about purchasing a Helio device ("not a phone, not a phone company")-

First good news - they now offer M2M for their all in customers.

second great news - I heard they have just moved their customer service center (no longer ClientLogic). So that will improve.

and if you are worried about coverage, keep in mind, wherever there is Sprint or Vorizon coverage you will find Helio, as they do not have their own towers but travel through Sprint and have a roaming contract with Vorizon. I have never dropped a call and I live in a very rural area.

last but not least - check out the Ocean - it's made by Pantech (the makers of the Hero) and I think it's going to be pretty cool. I plan on trading up my Drift when it come...

Network?

Ok, so a bunch of people whining about helio's service and I am seriously thinking about getting one. I have heard so many different things about their network....I hear it rocks, then I hear it sucks......Does anyone know if their service is good? I am in Illinois where my area is covered and i'm in a send stuff/blab away zone on their map (can't tell because of the colors) So anyone in the Peoria Area of Illinois that knows? Or anyone that could help me at all?

My Helio story (and some possible explanations).

I made the mistake of buying a contract with them through a retail store. The salesperson and the Helio rep both misinformed me of the contract details. They both thought that Helio had free mobile to mobile minutes, and they said the phone came with a small memory card to get us started.

This hurt me in three ways.
1- I was buying two phones (Both phones were Drifts) and contracts (Helio doesn't piggy-back phones). The phones were for my wife and I.
2- Helio DOES NOT have free mobile-to-mobile minutes. (90% of our calls are to each other, you can see where that would be bad for us.)
3- The phones DO NOT come with a memory card (at least not from that distributor).
We were also told that our account was to be invoiced by...

Could it BE>>>>>>

I just read a form in the helio carrier. A bunch of people are claiming that there phone out does the other carrier. Helio uses Sprints network, and alot of people are saying that it surpasses it. I know that Helio is in talk with Verizon Wireless to offer coverage where sprint does not, but could it be that helio has went ahead and done that and just not told anyone? I find it very hard to believe that helio would out do sprint, when they are running on the same network.

Phones for Helio

I am currently a verizon customer who is looking for a new carrier. My contract is up in September and Helio seems to be a great choice except for one problem. I dont like the 2 phones that are offered right now. Does anyone know if and when Helio plans on releasing new phones?

Helio.. Just say no

So. Helio. The phone itself? badass. Cool camera, music videos, wake up calls, shizbang. The company? For the most part, horrible. I ordered my helio device and service right through their website. It took a few days, and wham.. Theres my new helio Hero device. I imediatly called to activate it, and the guy I talked to was very helpfull. Then I brought up that I would like my bill to be sent to my house and Ill pay it on my own. No automatic withdrawl. I dont like people taking my money without me giving it to them ๐Ÿ˜ˆ . I worked with the guy for about 20 min and we got it all taken care of and he guarenteed me that the bill would be sent to my house.

That being said. A month and a half had gone by, and I havent recieved a bill. ...

Media Mover problems

Hey I've had my Helio for about 2 months now and its honestly the best service I've ever had. The only problem I've had at all, is the media mover software seems to crash or come across errors when I attempt to TX video files onto my phone. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Contacted the CSR's and nothing has seemed to work. I've tried WMV, AVI, MPG, and even ASF. Nothing has worked, the software always seems to say that the encoder has encountered problems and needs to close. Anyone have a fix?

1. can you use media mover to convert mp3s to mmf and use anything you want as ringer? and if so does teh quality go down any from the mp3 version?

2. can you set individual ringers or video ringers for different contacts on your list of people?

3. can you use media mover to transfer wallpapers from your pc to use on the drift?

4. can you use media mover to convert movie files to make your own video ringers?

Want to Move From VERIZON, but Need a Share Plan

I am looking for a little help here, and I will try to keep this short.

I have had it with the money leeches at Verizon, not to say there service is bad, but I feel like Verizon is to cell service as WalMart is to retail.

Anyway, I am interested in Helio, but I can't move without a shared plan. Does anyone know if Helio intends to roll out a share plan any time soon?

Thanks!

Unlocked Drift

I read in the drift forum that the Drift will work for Veriozon and Sprint since the phones are CDMA. Is there a way to purchase an unlocked drift or get any Helio phone to work with Verizon?

Thanks for your time ๐Ÿ˜
