KOL4420, the problem is that if you're like me, MetroPCS and TMO, the two best priced carriers around here, have EXTREMELY limited coverage by comparison. In-town, I'm good. If I venture about 10 miles in any direction, I'm running Edge data and one bar of 2G voice (if I'm lucky). AT&T doesn't have that issue. It's all about what you're willing to trade for in a given service area. You may not have these issues, ...

Ah! My bad. Wasn't aware. Didn't notice that it did when I was playing with it. It isn't a slide-out like the Surround, though...which I like. Didn't notice a kickstand, either. Still, just feeling the two phones, the Surround had a better feel to me. Course, that could be just me. :D

Gmail APp on E71x?

However, you can access Gmail on the go by using the web version." WTF?!?! :o :o :o    I've not seen anyone, anywhere say anything about having trouble with this. I know that Nokias manufactured in various places apparently have varying build qualities and just purchased an e71x which has a 7th and 8th IMEI digit of "02". From what I have found, this phone appears to have been manufactured in the Emirates and is considered "very bad" quality. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if you may have an e71x manufactured elsewhere? Is the one I have really that bad? Should ...

Yeah, I later bought the phone and am very happy overall. For the ringtones, that is annoying, but I just use "Audacity" to size down my mp3s and use them for ringtones. Works like a charm. Your phone won't ring through a whole song anyway, so it's almost better to just pick the best part and have it ring through that. :)

Gotcha. For the record, yes, I've gotten the text messages a few times (aren't they free? Annoying, but free none-the-less?). That said, at&t has never CALLED me though. I guess that would be the distinction I was making since the story was regarding calls from these telemarketers. :)

Okay. Gotcha. Seems like a canned "I work for AT&T" response, but I could be wrong about that. Here's my thing. I can go into my online account management and CHANGE the phone that I have MYSELF. If I get a FUZE and change my phone to the V3xx, would that not bypass the phone/data plan compatibility issue? :?

But WHICH unlimited data? Pretty much anyone who gets this phone will need unlimited data or there's no point to it. Can you walk out of the store with no data plan and add the $15 unlimited regular data plan through your online account or will it not even give you that option because it 'knows' which phone you have?

Makes sense. I'm not due for an upgrade until Feb. though, so maybe we'll all know more then. Still, the data plan could be a deal-breaker. If I can't keep my current non-iPhone plan and just add the iPhone data plan, that's a no-go for me. They don't offer anything close to comparable to that plan now and I've had other carriers tell me to not even think about letting my plan with ATT go ...

This is such a f**king stupid argument. Understood, but again....I think it just has to do with where you are. It could also be a defective iPhone I guess, but I would be more inclined to think that when at&t switched over to GSM that your area somehow got "uncovered". Not really sure.
