Model Numbers
It would be nice if you listed the actual model number of a phone somewhere on the specs page. Now that everything has a name, sometimes they can be tricky to find.
Re: illegal to unlock phones
As long as it's a Verizon phone with a clean ESN, you can still activate it. The unlocking issue is only relevant when you move a phone to a different carrier.
Re: Ballistic Cases
Ballistic cases work as well as Otterbox. We've done well with Trident cases too, that's what I use on my phone.
Re: otterbox, custy said
Nope. They'll replace the case if it breaks, but not the phone.

Re: Hmmm. Comparsion Shopping..
While the news articles may not make it very clear, these plans go up to 30GB of shared data.
And if you notice you've gone over your data BEFORE the bill cycles, you can change your data allowance through Verizon and back date it to cover your current month's usage. This won't extend your contract. You only get charged overage if you don't deal with it before the bill cycles.
Re: I am so sick of this place.
And you have to take that? If my customers treat my employees like that, they have the right to ask them to leave.

Re: I wonder if they will use employee discounts?
The current discounts apply to the plan access fee. Most customer's discounts will go down by a few dollars since the new plan access fees are lower and the line access fees are higher.
:(
Re: I wonder if they will use employee discounts?
Actually, I'm pulling all of this directly from my VZW training material. We're all talking about the same thing, we're just calling it by different names. So to use your terms, the discount will apply to the data charge.
Re: I wonder if they will use employee discounts?
No, there's a plan access fee (for example, on 1GB plan - $50, 2GB - $60. etc), plus line access fees ($30 for basic phones, $40 for smartphones). The discount will be on the plan access fee. I think you might be calling the plan access fee the data charge.
Re: I wonder if they will use employee discounts?
The discount will apply to the plan's access fee, but not to the $30-40 line access fees. This is the same way they discount current plans.
Re: I'm sure all you corp stores boot customers out the door.
I'm pretty sure that trolls hate bacon. They're just contrary like that.
New to smartphones...
Today an older woman came in to buy her first smartphone, and she asked me to tell her all about "Suri" and about "those Druid phones". I didn't have the heart to correct her, and it took about 15 minutes for her to catch on to the way I was pronouncing them.

Re: Sales tip for indirect retailers...
Do you realize that you are encouraging the customers to use "obscenities and personal insults" against the very people who read these threads, and those people come on Shop Talk to complain about the customers who use "obscenities and personal insults" to get things they don't deserve?
Just sayin'...
As an indirect agent, if I can't overcome an objection to a $30 fee without encouraging my customers to treat my colleagues like crap, perhaps I need to return to sales training. ...
Cosmos 2 + Cellebrite = FAIL
Any Verizon dealers out there have some tips to get an LG Cosmos 2 to accept a picture transfer through the Cellebrite machine? I can get contacts, but not pictures, on all 3 of my machines with any Cosmos 2 that I've tried.
VZW reps- our system is down, is yours?
Our account maintenance system through VZW is down. So is our support center's system. We cannot view or manage accounts, haven't been able to at all today. I'm in western NC, and I'm wondering how widespread this outage is. So to all my fellow VZW reps, give me a shout if you're dead in the water today and tell me where you are!
Re: Seoul, Japan anyone?
"Seoul is still in Japan."
It used to be in S Korea, but they moved it to Japan last week. It's still there.

Re: Other Female Reps
Those don't bother me so much, but there's one guy who comes in and calls me Princess.
No one has called me Princess since I was five. If he really knew me, he would NOT call me Princess.
VZW indirects - eroes + prepay = FAIL
Any other VZW indirects having trouble pulling up prepay accounts in eroes? We haven't been able to all week, and no one seems to know why. :(
Ambidextrous
Weird creepy customer: "I'm not right handed. But I'm not left handed."
Me: "Oh, so you're ambidextrous?"
WCC: "No, I'm not that either."
Me: :?
Re: Funny things people say
"What brand of phone do you have?"
"It's an LG Motorola."
No, it's a Samsung.
And it's always "LG Motorola", never "LG Samsung" or "Nokia Motorola" or whatever.
Re: Samsung Haven charge port
Thanks, but I'm looking for the actual port that solders onto the circuit board, that the charger plugs into.
Samsung Haven charge port
Anyone in the repair business know where I can find an OEM or compatible charge port for a Samsung Haven u320? Can't seem to find one anywhere. Thanks guys!
My mechanic is an a****** customer!!
I just switched mechanics. The new guy does good work, quickly, and at fair prices. He was very friendly and helpful, and I liked him. In the past three months, I've sunk about $700 into his shop in repairs for both of my cars.
So he came into my store a few minutes ago to look at phones, and I don't think he recognized me. He proceeded to tell me that my phones weren't worth a ...
Re: Bravo
Awesome April Fool's Day articles! My husband thinks I'm a dork for checking for your gag news articles on my day off, but it probably doesn't help that he didn't get any of the jokes. =) I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a GzOne Tank!

Indirect reps and chargebacks...
A question for all my fellow indirects...
Does your store have a policy where you charge a customer for the retail value of their equipment if they cancel service and you get a chargeback? If so, how do your customers react when you tell them this at the point of sale?
My boss and I disagree on how common this policy is among stores, so I'm trying to get a feel for what other stores are doing. ...
Re: The answer to his seq. ques. "whats your fav. hobby"...
My favorite -
Security question: What's your favorite sport?
My coworker's answer: pocket pool
Rep did not know what pocket pool was and asked my coworker to explain - he told her he would love to, but she would probably sue him if he did.
Re: Correct
My thoughts exactly. I hadn't really thought of a thumbs-down button, it would be nice to have both. Just a way to tell a poster you liked or disliked their statement without needing to type a reply.
"Like" button
This may have already been suggested at some point, but we need a "Like" button for forum posts! Or maybe I just spend too much time on facebook...
Re: Worst name?
Had a customer come in named Bobby. Pulled up his account and saw that his name had been misspelled on the original app, so the account holder on file was named "B@@by". Makes me laugh to think of the reps that have to call to inform him he's ready for upgrade.
Re: Worst name?
People used to be named for their profession. :o
Re: The Escalater
And his cousin, the immediate escalator, who walks in the door and asks for the manager straight away hoping he will get a better deal, when he just wanted to buy a car charger.
Re: Or in my case..
A few days ago, when functioning on a severe lack of sleep, a customer walked into my store and I nearly said my phone greeting of "X Wireless, this is Phoneyname..."
I answered the phone immediately after and my coworker nearly died laughing.

Re: Tip for those looking for jobs:
8. Do NOT be rude or condescending to my employees while you're waiting to meet with me. If you dislike them that much at first sight, you really don't need to work with them.
Seriously, it's surprising how many people break that rule...
Re: Signs I wish We had
From a local restaurant:
If you are grumpy, rude, or just plain mean, there will be a $10 charge for putting up with you.
Re: Oooh this is eff'd up!!! The Droid X becomes a brick if you try to access the bootloader!
According to Engadget, the phone won't actually brick, it will just refuse to boot until you put the proper software back in.
Re: Signs you've worked here too long
You hear your carrier's default ringtone while in the grocery store and suddenly feel like you're at work.
Somebody hands you their phone and your first impulse is to take out the battery and check for water damage.
Re: To all of you out there that want to bash store reps...
I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that customers don't tell phone reps about the store reps who do a good job.
Nobody calls customer care and says "I just wanted to let you know that I was in the store today and the rep was so nice and helpful, and they sold me the phone i need at a great price!" Those customers just go home happy with their service and go on with ...
