Whatever! How do you sleep at night being a non-discriminatory, non-judgmental arbitrator of facts on hand without the blessing of omnipotence? Shame on you trying to drag the collective "we" into this argument. What are you? A communist? Muhahahahaha! :)

There is no such thing as the free market when you are dealing with monopolies and oligopolies. I suspect that doesn't matter, and you just wanted to cheer on the "free market". So, while cheering, remember that the "free market" has enabled us to be 28th in the word in connection speed and 20th in broadband coverage . Go USA? Let's also not forget the billions of dollars in taxes and subsidies that have been given to these telecommunication ...

I don't think jail-breaking is the same as unlocking. As for competence, my point was that is indeed possible to unlock the Iphone. I would think that someone whose job involves selling and providing support for the Iphone would know at least this, including the caveats for at&t. Point taken though.

Activation fees are akin to the "human teller fees" that banks used to charge when ATM's were first introduced. Of course, once banks got their customers acquainted with ATM's that's when ATM fees were introduced of course. Activation fees are nothing more than a fee for the sole purpose of increasing the bottom line. https://www.phonescoop.com/forums/fo rum.php?fm=m&ff=17&fi=541367 The answer changes depending on who and when you ask.

Or perhaps it's just plain sloth and indifference.

Hypocritical much? You apparently have no issue with contracts being written in legalese and in ways to purposefully confuse the average consumer to the sole advantage of the carrier, but find it offensive when consumers try to use the contract in their own defense? How laughable.

Based on your comments you obviously don't. A neutral broadband network is one that is free of restrictions on content, sites, or platforms, on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, and on the modes of communication allowed, as well as one where communication is not unreasonably degraded by other communication streams. Neutrality proponents claim that telecom companies seek to impose a tiered service model in order to control the pipeline and thereby remove competition, create artificial scarcity, ...

These are people looking for any reason to complain. When you explain that studies show that texting/talking while driving can be worse than driving while intoxicated - they dismiss it. When you explain that this applies only to Federal employees and intra/interstate commercial transport and that states are making the decisions individually in regards to their citizens - they dismiss it. They don't want 'their' rights violated, all the while caring not if the exercising of those rights limits and/or removes the ...
