You have employees at Taco Bell, Walmart, and other fortune 500 companies stealing people's identity and CC information. Blaming Cingular for this is like blaming the street for car accidents. Dude has a problem and his employer happened to be Cingular... Would this be posted in the other forums if he were on their staff? Knowing the history of the original poster, probably not...

So if the article had placed Cingular last, would you dispute that? Just curious...The only time I see anything disputed on this site is when it comes to Cingular... If tracphone had a music phone and it got good remarks and was ahead of Cingular, it would be praised as a valid test...but let Cingular finish high or first in any test and people start questioning the test, whether the testers were paid etc...and most of that comes from people that ...

Two different OS, most phones with the PPC OS are $450 to $500 on Premier with no contract, Store price no contract will be $300 + $150. The BlackJack is $320 + $150 for no contract. Windows PPC is more robust and reading the various Treo sites is able to edit, download PDFs and more capable of multi-tasking on the Treo 700s and Treo 750s. Expect the Treo 750 to be about $130 to $150 more than the Treo 680 and Samsung ...

All companies invest in R&D and technology and to a large extent the consumer funds that investment. 8 years ago, when Verizon was Air-Touch in my hometown, $39/month got you 40 minutes or something like that. Now $49/month gets you 450 minutes, but you also internet capable phones, qwerty phones, bluetooth, etc...technology has come a long way... Bottom line, yeah Cingular is not the cheapest, but they are competitive and to a certain extent, they are worth it... There is a $39.99 ...

Since you don't like Cingular and you are using the CR "survey" to support your stance...why come here to post it and then get defensive when people that do use and like Cingular don't respond in the manner that you like? Clearly you were looking for an argument/debate/flame war...and you proceeded to start one. I am sure in your mind, this is all unprovoked, but the reality is that you lobbed the first grenade. If you don't like Cingular or GSM...then ...

I will take the high road and suggest contacting Cingular to get to the bottom of this. Either calling CS or going to a store...as mad as you are...think calmly and speak calmly...yelling or cussing won't get it resolved, but it will get you either hung up on or asked to leave... This could be as simple as a mix-up...it does happen...

if you get the phone unlocked for either Cingular or T-Mobile...you can buy rechargeable ($$$) SIM cards in the particular country and so long as the phone is Quad-Band, you can just drop in the SIM card and go. Your voice cost will be cheaper, but you might have a slight issue with data access (emails and internet).

You do realize that T-Mobile USA is just a small portion of a much larger company. The Goodwill portion of that deal alone is worth Millions, not to mention all the rebranding cost, golden parachutes for top executives, etc... This won't be a $20MM deal, this will be several hundred millions on the table not to mention the time lost waiting on the DOJ to say yes or no. Strategically speaking, Cingular gains little or nothing with a deal like that and ...

I can understand the 1913 lady's point...I am buying the phone and I am an existing customer, so I still get hit with a $18 fee? Do they want to sit on inventory or move it? Either way is an opportunity cost to them, not me. Is this a shipping charge? or just for the sake of them slapping it in a box and sticking a stamp on the side? incorrect, any phone call can be traced. Whether or not the police and government spend the money to do so is another story. Boost is no different, it is a matter of whether or not they (law enforcement) chooses to allocate resources. Remember the prevailing viewpoint is that so long as the drug use/sales are confined to certain communities and only certain groups are effected, they aren't going to worry, it is once it leaves those communities and spreads to the ...

It is not the chirp that people (whether in the pristine upscale communities of hazel park or warren or bloomfield or the neighborhoods of Sherwood Forest, Palmer Woods or Rosedale Park) get boost/nextel for. It is for the covienence of contacting family and friends via the DirectConnect or walkie-talkie. Hate to say this, but Verizon did the same thing back in the early 1990s, (Hey, I am 40, I remember when the only people that cell phones were doctors, lawyers and drug dealers, heck I remember when you had to pay for caller id and voice mail) on a cell phone. In Michigan, they bought the old Airtouch network and the subscriber base. If you stayed on Airtouch and you didn't migrate over, you were charged a fee ...

I'm just glad that they offer a viable alternative and that alternative breeds competition and improved technology benefits to the end user. Would Verizon push themselves to offer their broadband/vcast service without a Cingular, T-Mo, Sprint? Would Cingular push to offer HSPDA w/o Verizon, T-Mo, Sprint? The technological benefits that we are able to utilize as a direct or indirect result of the increased competition helps us enjoy better call quality, cheaper rate plans, and better phones. Eventually we will ...

You will have to find an online store that sells "Unlocked" GSM phones. Make sure that they are either quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) at the very least have the 850 mhz on the phone to work properly. Cingular will implement WCDMA which is not the same as CDMA  Anyone using a CDMA phone WILL NOT be able to to better network clarity. This might apply to GSM phones, but not to CDMA. WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) Wideband CDMA is a third-generation (3G) wireless standard which utilizes one 5 MHz channel for both voice and data, initially offering data speeds up to 384 Kbps. WCDMA is also referred to as UMTS - the two terms have become interchangeable. WCDMA is ...
