okay so my best friend is on an old AT&T GSM plan, and his mom isnt willing to give up the $50 a month for 1000 minutes, and since she wont migrate over to (ithink its called) cingular orange, they cant get new phones without giving up her plan. i dont blaame her but... his phone is falling apart and for his birthday i was going to buy him a new prepaid phone from t-mobile(assuming they will unlock it for me), or cingular have it unlocked, and give it to him. is that at all possible?

thanks!!

ahh awesome 😁
does it cost anything to get the phone unlocked, or will the sales person at cingular or t-mobile do it for free?

thanks!!

nobody at cingular or tmobile will do it for you. you have to get it done over the internet, through someone you know, or from an independently owned cell phone place.

good luck!!!

PS if youre looking for an easy phone to get unlocked, look at a nokia. those are by far the easiest to unlock in my experience.

You will have to find an online store that sells "Unlocked" GSM phones. Make sure that they are either quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) at the very least have the 850 mhz on the phone to work properly.
Some resellers on eBay are decent, some are hijackers, crooks, thieves, etc...
Try a google or yahoo search for Unlocked GSM phones and see what that gets you...
