Re: Voice dialing using BT headset
I feel the same way - and disappointed because the Droids have a lot of great features. The issue isn't that voice dialing cannot be activated - it is that it cannot be activated from the BT headset, which is its main advantage, e.g., when driving. This is such an odd omission that one has to wonder if there is another reason Android doesn't include it.
Re: Impressive
Any chance this phone will sync with Apple computers (e.g., Mail, iCal, iPhoto, iTunes, Contacts?
Neat phone; finish wears off quickly
Has anyone else noticed that the silver finish wears off really quickly on the enV2? I've had mine three weeks and it has not touched anything but the cloth inside my pocket the whole time. Already the silver has worn off in one spot altogether and looks very used all around. Seems like a manufacturing goof on an otherwise great little phone.
Re: Operating the enV2
Thanks! But I just wanted to be able to talk on the phone - or at least voice dial - without holding it to my ear, and this does not seem to be an option.

Operating the enV2
I've had this phone for three days. So far I am impressed with the compact form and the keyboard. Not as impressed with the sound quality on the ear piece and the speakers, which is a bit coarse.
Another issue is convenience: it does not seem possible to use voice dialing without using a headset. One cannot control ring tones unless the phone is open. (And it comes with very few ring tones). The wallpaper ...
Re: got my yesterday
The enV2 came tonight. Very nice size, much more modern and comfortable to hold and pocket than the old one. Does anyone know if there is a way to use voice dialing without opening the phone (and without using a headset)? Going from an old LG 4650, where you could voice dial with the phone closed, I miss that feature.
Re: cost for overseas use?
When Verizon unlocks the phone, you will be able to buy SIM cards from someone like telestial.com - a variety of plans tailored to your travel locations - and save $$.
Keeping Venus screen clean
I will appreciate recommendations on how to clean the screen on my Venus. Verizon staffers have alternated between "don't touch it" to "I'd use a little bit of Windex..."
Re: Will LG Venus VX-8800 work with a Macintosh ?
Two sales guys, in two Verizon stores swore that it would be easy to load up SD cards and slide them into the Venus with songs from iTunes. But this appears to have been in error. Verizon has many strengths, but for some reason, it seems to have decided to ignore the 8.2% of computer buyers who are buying MACs this year...
Re: SD card Help
Is there an easy way to bring in files from a Mac iTunes playlist to a sd card that the Venus could read?
Re: Cheap plastic?
The soft plastic GRIPS really well...could set it on the car's dashboard, I think. And it doesn't slide out of your hand. On the other hand, the screen is really fragile, easy to smudge and scratch.

Thanks for this thoughtful reply!

Re: New phones will be out this year, sweet ones too.
Ok. So We are trying to figure out how we can stay with Verizon's (admittedly) better network when the iPhone beckons. So what from Verizon will 1) easily import photos from iPhoto; 2) easily transfer music from iTunes; 3) be a good phone(!); 4) have a full texting keyboard; 5) cost $20 rather than $60/month for Internet access; 6) allow wifi connection and easy e-mail downloads; and have 7) Bluetooth connectibility? For icing: a good speakerphone and ...
Re: Where is Verizon???
I believe tht your assessment is right onthe money. In a way, the LG vx10000 is more gimicky than anything - and a bit large, too. It's as if VZ is trying to have a phone that appaears as clever as the iPhone, but without the substance. The 10000 does appear to be a pretty gadget for what it does do. But it doesn't do a lot, too!
Re: Leaked LG VX10000 and LG 8800
Of course, but I am a little impatient as really new VZ products have been a long time in coming...And our contract has been up since July. And we use Mac computers....so you see, VZ is going to need something pretty snappy (I know, the network and all, but ATT is getting better every day...) to keep us in the tent.
Re: Leaked LG VX10000 and LG 8800
Anyone have a hunch about how much data plans will cost to use the 10000 for email?
Re: Where is Verizon???
iPhone with a speakerphone and better data connectivity would be absolutely perfect.
Preferences: QWERTY for texting (I don't mind the iPhone system at all); MP3 with good compatibility with MAC computers; small form factor; light weight; friendly (and aesthetically pleasing) interface, e.g., for photos; speakerphone; bluetooth. WiFi would be a bonus. In my research, Verizon doesn't seem to have anything even close.
Re: Where is Verizon???
Our friends, too...but, hey, most of the calls are after 9 pm, right! Our contract has been up since July and we've been spending lots of time at the ATT store!
Where is Verizon???
Day after day, ATT, Sprint, T-Mobile announce new (and cool) phones. Where is Verizon???
Interface with Macs???
I'm new to downloading music...will it be difficult to bring music into a Mac and then upload it to the HTC 5800?
Re: BB CURE is going to be in Verizon stores Sept 11
It's "Curve," I guess...does this mean an expensive monthly data plan for two years???
Wouldn't the i760 or maybe one of the HTC's with a Qwerty drawer be better, anyway?
Re: iphone and verizon?
I am a convert to MAC (over two years ago, never looked back)...but some of my best friends are PC folks. Like most MAC addicts, I am smitten by the iPhone. Like most former Cingular subscribers, I know that my love-hate relationship with Verizon is a challenge - the network and service are a light year ahead, but Verizon seems to be in bed with Microsoft. So my fantasy is to replace my LG VX4650 with ...
Sync with MAC OS???
What will be needed to transfer music files from a MAC OS X computer to this phone? MAny more steps than if one bought an iPhone??!!
Will it be easier to sync with MAC PCs?
Will this new development make it easier to bring in music downloads from MAC OS X PCs to Verizon phones with Windows software?
HTC 5800 / Fusion / S720 with MAC OS
Will the HTC 5800/Fusion with Windows be likely to SYNC with MAC OS computers? For example, will MAC MAIL Sync with Outlook as it is programmed on a phone like the 5800? How about syncing with music downloads?
Re: iphone and verizon?
I appreciate your help. If you know the game, what can you do with a Blackberry if just paying for the regular phone plan? A friend of mine is paying about $50 a month in addition to the phone fees, I thought to get Internet access. I'll head to my Mac for that! But I suppose having wi-fi capability would be worth some extra cost when traveling.
Re: iphone and verizon?
OK. So is there a way to use Blackberries without the $50 monthly additional fee? Or, alternatively, another phone that allows music, fast text messaging (e.g., probably a QWERTY board), Bluetooth, and isn't big and heavy? The enV comes close and so does the Q, but they're a little big and/or heavy, and if you're a MAC user, putting music on them gets complex, I'm told.
Re: iphone and verizon?
Thanks for the scoop. Only problem with Blackberries is the monthly fee....BTW, what is a "Sw upgrade"? (Sorry for my ignorance!)
Re: Sprint will be first U.S. carrier to sell RAZR 2, not VZW
Nothing really seems new since the iPhone.
Re: iphone and verizon?
We're long-time Verizon customers, and all in all, the service has been far better than Cingular was.... And what you wrote makes sense, except that the iPhone is a very friendly and attractive gadget and manages photos and music beautifully. For those of us who want a phone that would also do texting (I think it does this well, sorry), be a music player and store some photos, the iPhone seems great! I think that Verizon is ...
Re: iphone and verizon?
Or we can spend the two-three years persuading all of our friends to not renew their Verizon contracts so that we can all be in-network. By then, maybe AT&T will improve the network and learn how to do customer service. The iPhone is so cool, it is worth the wait.
Re: iphone and verizon?
I might need your help on this, since I am not sure. But I have been under the impression that if the phone has wifi, one could grab e-mail whenever there is a connection (e.g., the hotel lobby or Starbucks), but the other methods require monthly contracts of $20-50 in addition to the phone contract. Is that correct? Hey - thanks for helping!
Re: iphone and verizon?
Thanks very much! But you are correct - I am holding out for something smaller and lighter (pocket-size). The U740 is a step in the right direction...if it had the stereo, FM radio, and wi-fi, it would be a done deal..
Re: iphone and verizon?
Hmm...these assertions sound strangely similar to what the sales people say in the Verizon stores! hmmm...
Re: iphone and verizon?
I appreciate your time...but isn't it sad that Verizon is always months if not a year behind the other carriers in bringing new phones to market!?
Re: iphone and verizon?
Have you found any coming up with a qwerty board, stereo bluetooth, a to-do list - and maybe wifi - and smaller than the EnV? (oh, let's really go for it - add a FM radio, too)
Re: iphone and verizon?
A better question is when is Verizon going to get any of the new cool phones. Like the HTC Touch, for instance. Our contract runs out next month (we've been with Verizon for probably 12 years), and the service (unlike Verizon land line service) has been great. But it looks like it's time to swtich just to get the best equipment.

Thanks very much!

Pantech 820 and Macs
Will the Pantech 820 interface well with Macs? (e.g., Address book and e-mail coordination)? Also (apologies, I have not yet used MP3 downloads); will it require multiple steps to move music from the Mac to the memory card of the Pantech?
Re: Has moble web 2.0
Is it possible to check e-mail then, say on via the web browser?
