some quick thoughts

camera is actually better in low light than my voyager

txt on the front is ALOT easier than touch screen

the keys on the inside are TINY noticeably smaller one the finger tips I dont know if thats just something i have to get used to or something thats gonna be a problem

the front only has two quick menus and one of them is NOT contacts .. WTF MUSIC?? come on this should be a programed shortcut .. I dont want to get to my music from one touch i want to get to my contacts the other is clear

ok im learning on the fly here cause this is the first time im really messing with it .. if you hit arrow up you get to your contact list .. arrow down to your message box

the menus are different but kinda the same jus...

Thanks Nietzsch12 for your review. I've been interested in how the front screen will do with the limited arrow keys (up and down only). Sounds like texting from the front is limited, but works just fine. I guess the point of the phone is to encourage texting and navigation from the internal screen. They are saying over at hofo that the vibrate is weak, but could be improved with software updates. How's the phone look and feel? Form factor? Battery? Call quality and strength? I'm glad it's slimmed down and sleeker that the orig. Thanks again for your thoughts so far.

i love the size of the phone .. txting from the front is easy but the lack of visible screen can be an issue to some .. you basically get one line of what you typed .. or received and you scroll for the rest .. I think they went with a wider screen than the old ones as opposed to a longer one the ENV has . and to be honest it doesnt lack as much space when compared to txtin on the front of the voyager considering most of the voyagers screen space is the touch keys just the font is tiny but this is all

the battery is good .. better than my Voyager was so far .. I didnt talk much on it last night but i did txt and it still has full charge

Call quality to me is similar to the voyager .. signal strength is exactly the same .. right now i...

I returned my 8700 to wait for this phone, reversed my upgrade. I want a phone I can talk and text with at this time.

Not sure why anyone would text from front screen when you can open up to a full keyboard inside ?

Isn't that the reason for this phone ? Reason I am getting the phone is cause I don't like pushing keys 3-4 times to get the character I want. I am assuming that is why most are interested in this phone. I plan on checking it out May 4th when it comes out in Stores.
Looking forward to hearing more about this phone.

Texting from the front of the screen is nice when you have to do it on the fly, with a quick text or to check a quick message, do it inconspicuously...etc. If you use t9 or what LG and VZW calls Word, you don't have to press a key several times to get a character. The program is intuitive. That's the beauty of t9 texting. If you haven't tried it, give it a go, and you'll be surprised how much faster it is than multi-tap.

I agree that Word is a fast way to text but sometimes it doesn't recognize the word I want to type and gets annoying , that is why I don't us Word/T9 when texting. I prefer a full keyboard myself. But on the fly if you LIKE the way word/t9 works, great. I tend to be buying this phone for full keyboard.

The enV2 came tonight. Very nice size, much more modern and comfortable to hold and pocket than the old one. Does anyone know if there is a way to use voice dialing without opening the phone (and without using a headset)? Going from an old LG 4650, where you could voice dial with the phone closed, I miss that feature.

for me when I want to send out a quick txt or if I can only use one hand IE driving (come on we ALL do it) I like using the front .. If I'm going to send a lengthy message ill flip it open and use two hands

and you dont need to push it 3 or 4 times cause of pre txt .. you can add words so its not that hard once u get used to it .. I used to use regular txt but im 100x faster with T9 (predictive txting)

Where are you all getting these phones? Not available around here yet. How could they possibly release them only in certain areas?

Just call Verizon direct sales at 800-256-4646 and ask a rep for the phone. That's how I got mine.

I was in my local verizon wireless store yesterday and the sales rep said the phones were already at the store. (but they were not allowed to show them.) I was told the official release date is Wed. April 30.
