Video playback features?
Feb 13, 2006, 12:42 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I have "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Robin Hood" on my Nokia 6230, but don't play them much since I have to start from the beginning and watch every moment each time. Does the SLVR at least allow fast-forward?...

Re: Purchasing a 6230...
Feb 13, 2006, 12:31 PM
in the Nokia 6230 forum

When the towers in my neighborhood are working, the phone usually works well. An occasional SIM error pops up, claiming the phone isn't valid, but a reboot has always cleared that up. Had it happen on a trip, so it's not a local thing. If a RAZR had expandable memory back when I got my 6230, it would have been a really tough call to still get a 6230. Used and bargain-priced, the 6230 might work out better, but ...

Reception issues?
Jan 16, 2006, 1:11 PM
in the Nokia 6230 forum

Some reviews give 6230 signal reception great reviews but I've had lost calls galore since August or so. May until August seemed great. The base-unit I bought to charge it, that also forwards call to my home phone, stopped working then too. Cingular claims there's no tower problem near me, but I can sit in one spot and go from 5 bars to none at random, like the signal from some more-remote tower that I'm actually ...

Can calls NOT be sent to speakerphone by default?
Sep 14, 2005, 8:06 AM

Aug 29, 2005, 10:05 AM
in the Nokia 6230 forum

I've had mine since May. Lately, I've been unable to use the call-forwarding charger stand Cingular sold me, due to some sort of difficulty. Either the signal is too low in my neighborhood, or the device has just quit functioning. I complained about low signal at home, and they told me I needed to turn the phone off more often to pick up firmware updates. That didn't help, since I still see 1 bar or less sometimes. ...

Re: MMC vs. RS-MMC?
Aug 8, 2005, 9:10 AM
in the Nokia 6230 forum

You need an adapter to use RS-MMC, and while I don't recall hearing of anyone using one in a 6230, it might work. RS-MMC seems to be more useful in other phones, too, so if you do get it to work, the card may have more life than a plain MMC, which isn't popular anymore...

I just wish MMC was cheaper, given that it isn't on the shelf anymore at places I go like Best Buy. Newer phones don't use it, so if I buy it and change to a new phone later, I'll have to use it in a portable USB card reader or something to avoid tossing it in my pile of No Longer Useful Stuff, which isn't small...

Camera phones are becoming camera-non-gratas at a lot of companies, so I wouldn't want to have to surrender mine to enter some building where I'd need the rest of the features. Reports are, this phone communicates slightly better with a Toyota Prius than a V710 does, so it leaps to the front of the pack to become my new phone. The small problems I've heard about, like not being able to initiate calls from the car's dialer, will probably ...
